And if he wins, he'll be the first independent governor of a state since Jesse Ventura. I remember how well that worked out. Neither party thinks it has to work with you, so the ability to do any real work is somewhat limited.

I'm not sure if Indiana is ready for tie dye in the Governor's mansion....but it would be very amusing if he won the nomination.

Wasn't he on the "Villain" team? People don't have a problem with this?

Oh, wait, politics. Business as usual, move along people.

After a quick search, I find that he was on the "Hero" team, which means not only am I wrong, but he stands no chance.

It helps when the producers carefully screen contestants to ensure only the most barely mentally competent get on the show.

I prefer to think he got voted out of office. The first two times he ran the show until the end when everyone's little feelings got hurt.

This.

Say what you want about his tactics, Russell knows how to play the game and manipulate people. His deviousness is so insidious, it becomes art. I can't count how many times I've shouted at the screen "You farking bastard..... well played!"

If the show were a meritocracy, where only the most skilled players win in accordance with some objective criteria, he should have won. As it was, his schemes were far too Machiavellian for anyone on the show to stomach him winning, and he was always going to be runner up. He simply steps on too many toes, stabs too many backs, and stands on too many shoulders to ever win the whole thing. That is the only problem with the way he plays. It doesn't help when two thirds of the jury is full of contestants that he single-handedly excommunicated.

No matter how many times Russel gets to the end, he will never win, because he consistently goes out of his way to gloat over his victories, alienate jury members, and make sure they vote for someone else at the end. That's the mark of a bad player, not the GOAT. Russel's inability to see this is his farking problem, not the jury's.

That said, I can't imagine why anyone's who's seen Survivor would want Rupert as governor. The guy's kind of a dumbass.

If only real life were like survivor....

I've often said that if the dead could come back and judge the living (not as zombies but as jury-type figures), every successful individual in power - every king, every emperor, every dynasty, every religious leader, every general and army and noble and corporate CEO and government legislator in every history textbook - would be strung up and hanged. Violently. With extreme prejudice.

And the reason why the dead would do that to them is because God (karma/fate/whatever) didn't.

In other words he only played half the game, and refused to play the other half. You can't win with a 50% score.

The Germans respected Patton because he so thoroughly kicked their asses(and the Americans Rommel). There is respect to be earned when you're completely outplayed.

Survivor is not war. The social game is half the game, built in from the beginning.

It's only part of it if the contestants make it so. The tagline is "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast", not "Add everyone to your Facebook friends list".

The vote for the million is where the social game is most crucial. If you roll over the jury with a steamroller during the game, and sneer at them while telling the why you won even before a vote was cast, you have failed the social game miserably. I respect Russel's tactical game, but the tactical game is only 50%. On the other hand, Rupert excelled at the social game, and failed miserably at the tactical game, also 50% I vote Boston Rob for Gov'ner

By the way, you don't have to respect them in the morning. You just have to make them think you do. ;-)

Rupert annoyed the hell out of me the second time and third time he played.

His strategy was vote for me I'm a nice guy. That's dumb and doesn't work.
Then he got mad when it didn't work, repeatedly. Naive is one thing. Naive and angry is just stupid.

But most importantly he used Survivor as a vehicle to boost his own popularity, and then railed against people that do just that. He's a male attention whore, and sounded like Jeri Ryan in the end.
