Fuxa Coldplay?

The two seconds of silence after any Coldplay song? Y'know, the all-too-brief pause where you can enjoy the quiet and stop chewing at the straps, before the next song comes on and you start once again to strain against your bonds in the vain attempt to pierce your own eardrums and relieve yourself, finally, of this interminable Hell?

Clocks was pretty catchy when it came out. I liked Yellow before I realized I was supposed to hate Coldplay to keep my snob cred. The rest of them just kinda blend together for me and I dont know the song titles.

2011-10-22 02:11:15 PM
that one song that sounds like they're ripping off U2 ripping off REM, or that other song that sounds like REM ripping off U2.

What's a Cold play?

Never heard of 'em.

The only way to best coldplay song is not to play.

*hangs head in shame*

to be fair, the last time I played the one album I admittedly enjoy --I was walking up and down the streets in Boston by myself doing a lot of thinking--repeatedly on loop. Then I sat on a bench and pulled out my journal and came to a resolution. By the time I met up with the person I'd gone with I didn't carry through. And that cost me dearly. So, like, the album is all sentimental and sh(t. I wish I could go back to that woman in that park and whisper in her ear, "Do it. You are BETTER than this."

but that's what makes life funny.

i should pull out that journal and read it again. but i don't think i can or want to.
moo point and all.

/the one with Clocks on it, which is actually my least favorite song on it.
//hated the one that followed, which i think had the la vida loca whatever one on it.
///haven't heard anything since then.

The Scientist.

Hillbilly Jim: The Scientist.

dstanley: Fuxa Coldplay?

Was wondering that myself. I hear people trashing them constantly, but I don't know that I've ever actually heard them play.

Til Kingdom Come, because you can imagine how Johnny Cash would have done it if he had lived long enough to record it.

The old man with a respirator singing "Fix You" in the movie "Young at Heart" is everything awesome and meaningful about music.

That's my only real opinion on Coldplay.

2011-10-22 03:56:19 PM
Coldplay is awesome!!!

/David Gray, too.
//and Kings of Leon kicks ASS!!!

I like Shiver. They're one of those bands that I don't own any of their albums but when I hear them I do like some of their songs. Basically I like them but I won't put in any effort into liking them.

Reading the comments, some people actually think that was Coldplay performing.

"Fix You" is among my favorite Coldplay songs, and I gained a new appreciation for Viva La Vida after seeing a video of a live performance, in Japan I believe.

Hillbilly Jim: The Scientist.

I prefer the Willie Nelson version myself.

2011-10-22 04:25:21 PM
I'll just listen to "Pyramid Song" by Radiohead if it's all the same. I know I beat a dead horse, but Coldplay is just the Radiohead cover band that it big.

Parachutes was excellent, A rush of blood to the head was mostly great and after that I really didn't care much

2011-10-22 04:29:07 PM
The one that plays when I hit the power button. Not the one that that turns it on.

2011-10-22 04:30:35 PM
Is there one in which they play no instruments, sing no lyrics, and instead put on a David Bowie album and keep their mouths shut? Because it would be that one.

2011-10-22 04:30:46 PM
I like Talk, but only because of its Kraftwerk tune.

2011-10-22 04:32:13 PM
I kinda liked the first two albums when their band actually had a defined sound, even if it was somber.

But when they started with that pretentious "Roman cavalry choirs are singing....I know Saint Peter will call my name..when I ruled the world" crap, then I knew it was all over.

Man, F that song.

2011-10-22 04:40:42 PM
Coldplay gets unnecessary amounts of crap. They're a good band, and their batting average is pretty damn good.

Came here to say this. "Shiver," "Spies" and "Don't Panic" are three of very few good Coldplay songs, and are all on Parachutes. A couple decent ones live on A Rush of Blood to the Head, but any albums thereafter and I can't force myself to give a flying fark.

2011-10-22 04:46:35 PM
Clocks. I was 11 when that came out, and I learned to play it on the piano.

/Just Clocks, nothing else rocks.

This.

I still kinda like the band...but yeah, after "A Rush of Blood to the Head" it's been downhill...

Not a Coldplay fan in general, but I do like "The Scientist". Very poignant.

That's about it.

2011-10-22 04:52:40 PM
Hmm. I, I, I don't know. I mean, I guess, I sorta like 'em all.

Violet Hill.

The song Rush of Blood To The Head is a nice depressing little ditty. They should have more songs about burning things to the ground.

2011-10-22 05:10:56 PM
Spies or The Scientist. New album is glossy as hell but has 3 good tracks. They should stick to EPs.

2011-10-22 05:22:28 PM
I'm partial to the last track on the album. You know, the one with the wide grooves just before the label starts.

/the Romans were known for many things, their cavalry was not one of them

They existed but were rather outclassed by armies that devoted most of their resources to horseback archers and such.

Relevant.

Old guy singing what was supposed to be a duet with his friend who died before the performance. Makes me cry every time.

Wow. THIS is the only song of their's I like.

The bullshiate scene in the video of him hanging his arms out like he is being crucified is just plain dumb, lame and sophomoric, though.

So we are judging bands on the historical accuracy of their lyrics now.

Good to know.
