(Some Guy) Sad On the internet people are debating whether the Gaddafi death pictures are too graphic. I just want him not to decompose before he stars in Weekend at Moammar's   (huffingtonpost.ca) divider line 60

Life's a b*tch, eh? Too graphic? It's reality you morans.

I've seen reality before....it involves fancy trips around the world with the option of winning cash, ordinary people becoming pop superstars, and an eligible bachelor picking the love of his life in six weeks or less

That's reality

Too graphic? These people haven't been on the internet very long have they?

2011-10-22 11:56:52 AM
Apparently these people have never visited Ogrish before.

2011-10-22 11:57:34 AM
Isn't every picture graphic?

2011-10-22 11:57:35 AM
So that article is somewhere between "Someone think of the children!" and "I wonder what's on /b/ today?"

2011-10-22 11:58:19 AM
Meh, the majority of us on the internet have seen someone's head being sawed off. Those pics are nothing.

2011-10-22 11:59:53 AM
If I don't see a picture with half of his head caved in I am just going to assume he paid off the rebels that cornered him and decided to finally punch out and GTFO of his country.

"Graphic" is Budd Dwyer. This is just a corpse photo set.

2011-10-22 12:04:13 PM
the big problem with the pic's is it negates all the nice diplomatic fictions about how he died. Gov'ts everywhere hate cellphone cameras.

2011-10-22 12:04:18 PM
I think this story is less about "Is it OK to print" and more about "Is it really worth printing." Sure, it's your right to print the picture, but just like with Bin Laden, I don't think most people are prepared to see what someone's head looks like after having a round pass through it. It doesn't add anything to the story.

2011-10-22 12:04:51 PM
from the 0sama killing, i thought pictures shouldn't be shown and the body needed to be treated in accordance with Muslim traditions and there needed to be a respectful funeral and treatment of the body

And it's epic too because it features (some dude named) Don Johnson.

Budd: "Where's Don Johnson?"

Don Johnson hands Budd an envelope.

Budd pulls a revolver from the envelope.

Budd: "Well, I..."

You know the rest.

Can I just say that the next time a dictator is nearing his end, would it be too much trouble to drop in some video cameras that have a better frame rate?
Those videos of his last moments were waaaay too choppy for me to enjoy.

Well, you're only going to get a good enough video from the center or a bloodthirsty mosh pit..

Trillions of dollars in telecommunications infrastructure in space and all we got was this lousy barely-recognizable death photo of Gaddafi. I am disappoint.

Ever watched 'Bones' on TV? The show is more graphic than a horror movie, it's just minus the usual 50 gallons of fake blood spread around.

Then you have horror movies, like 'SAW' in all of it's versions where people get rather gruesomely slaughtered and don't forget nearly every Zombie movie made since the middle 70's. Even the various clones of CSI usually manage to have a gruesome corpse dug up from time to time.

I don't care about how graphic they were, I care that they were the farking thumbnails for the top story in Google News. It was literally an icon of a gory dead body. That's too farking gross for the news.

I made it through less than a minute of Bones for this reason. It's disgusting, so was the picture, so I don't watch Bones. And the problem wasn't that the pictures were published, but that they were right out on my damned front page. I didn't get a "Qaddafi killed, click through to see pictures of his mutilated corpse," it was just "here ya go, gore." If I wanted to look at gore I'd go to rotten.com. Yeah he was a bastard, yadda yadda. I'm against the US being involved in any of these conflicts, I don't need to see this shiat. Show it to Obama, or fark, show him the mutilated US corpses he's piled up in Afghanistan.

Agreed. CBSNews had the pictures interspersed in the story. There was no reason to publish the pictures. However, they should have at the very least pixilated it and gave you the option to click or read the story without pictures. I don't need to see the pictures to believe that man is dead.

Years ago the reporters were ordered to leave some Middle East country. In their infinite wisdom some didn't. One was hiding behind a stone fence filming some sort of heated discussion between someone and a soldier with an AK. The soldier evidently grew tired of him and hit the guy with his gun a few times. The guy fell down and the soldier popped him with three rounds. The last thing you see is a fast movement out of there with the screen going black,

It was quite shocking to see someone murdered like that.

Are the same people who are now whining about gruesome pictures of Gaddahi the same ones who wanted a picture of Osama bin Laden dead, as proof that he was really dead? What if they announced that Gaddafi was dead, but these videos weren't all over the place? I guess then everyone would want proof of it.

Well, you obviously haven't seen the new "Mexican drug cartel with the chainsaw" video that's making the rounds. It's new and different!

i.huffpost.com

are far more powerful on the front page of newspapers than are the photos taken in his last moments.

I don't mind the photos being published, but perhaps a warning or some tasteful placement might've been preferable. All I'm saying is that it was a little strange to click the "News" tab on Google and to be greeted with a photo of Gaddafi's dead, bloody face. It might've been nice to include the picture in the article itself and not the thumbnail. Not everyone wants to rubberneck immediately.

/Not fazed beyond that on a personal level.
//Rotten.com desensitized me to worse a long time ago.
