Yes you are, because you make more that the median wage. At least that's what the GOP and Teabaggers want you to think and why many people buy into their load of bullshiat. The problem is wages are flat and costs have skyrocketed.

2011-10-22 04:41:36 AM
So how can we change things so we aren't all totally farked?

Interesting. That was my bonus this year.

But remember, someone making $250,000 is barely getting by and can't afford a tax increase.

You think so now. Maybe you will change your tune next year.
Just guessing.

If you think that's bad;

GNI per capita in Saudi in 2009 was $17700.

Hmm, that's funny,

I'm well trained in what I do and I make $76 a year. Not your "1%" but I think I am taking care of my family just fine. Why haven't you figured out a way to not be a lazy sack of college waste and start working for a living?. My first job was at $5.15 an hour,... Give it a whirl! You might like what you find!

I have this thing called a ... "employment contract". Perhaps you've heard of such a thing? I know for most wingnuts - that is a difficult concept to grasp.

I think you accidentally stumbled onto an American website, and not the Chinese one you were looking for. I'm a bartender and I make exponentially more than $76 a year. I actually think my Netflix account is more than $76 a year now.

Your contract has time limits? No? Good for you.

You don't understand.

The EPA is run by assassins and ninjas that work day and night to sabotage small business owners.

Regulations are literally strangling job creators. Various pieces of legislation have manifested themselves into large hand-like apparitions (like the ones that yank Link out of the dungeon) and they float around strangling job creators.

I wonder why they chose to use the mean for that graph instead of the median in a data set that is known to skew toward smaller wages.

bravian: Any contract without a limit is useless.

I think he means a contract that limits the hours you can work for the sole purpose of preventing you from making a living wage.

Like limiting it to 25-35 hours a week. Just enough to squeak by, not enough to pay all your bills.

farkin' retarded system we got now. It's every bit as bad as the old Victorian system, if not as physically dangerous.

I'm living in the US. I'm very far from tea party "2nd amendment solutions" territory, but I'm prepared to pop the cork on this biatch. I learned how to create explosives and use tactical firearms at a young age and I say "let's get it on"

But other places are worse, and so that statistic is totally meaningless, and everything is actually just fine.

And also it's Obama's fault.

While the average U.S income last year was $39,959, the mean income - the figure where half earn more and half earn less - was much lower, $26,364. This disparity reflects the fact that "the distribution of workers by wage level is highly skewed," according to Social Security. some people work part-time, and nobody makes $40K bagging groceries after school.

2011-10-22 05:51:53 AM
Don't look so surprised. In pretty much all developed countries, real wages adjusted for inflation hasn't increased for the lower and middle or even middle upper class for god knows how long. To simply put it, a 9 to 5 average Joe in the 60s were making the exact same money as the average Joe today. In the past whenever the economy grew, it was all just pretty much due to the 1% making more money. It's just that people didn't really noticed or cared until now because of the mini-depression and bailouts.

How can people live on this?

I make 19 figures a year and I still have regular problems like anyone else. I can talk about it like it's no big deal and it's all true.

I'll probably make triple that next year.
