God this "ironic" and "retro" crap just drives me crazy. It seems the youth of today don't have anything original of their own, so they must cling on to shiat that was cool for us old timers, to either pretend like they remember it, or make fun of it.

I would be willing to guess most of the idiots who follow this guy around are in their early 20s and going apeshiat over the show and pretending like it was a part of their childhood or something. If you're 22 years old, saved by the bell was cancelled when you were 4 years old. You weren't the target demographic and it's not a part of your generation. Enjoy One tree hill, suckers.

That being said, good on Dennis for exploiting this for all it's worth and having fun with it. I'm glad he isn't sitting around depressed and lonely. Seems like a good guy.

The show has been in syndication for the last twenty years. You couldn't turn on TBS in the morning for years without running into back to back episodes of Saved by the Bell. I'm in my mid 30's and when I was a kid Brady Bunch reruns were on every day. Just because I wasn't alive when the show aired on the network doesn't mean it wasn't a part of my childhood. I'm sure the same is the case for twenty-somethings and SBTB.

He's been doing that for years in his hometown- Chattanooga. It's one of those quirky city rights of passage. Real Chattanoogans have run into Mr. Belding drunk at one point or another. I've got at least 5 under my belt.

Also you are forgetting there was a spin-off series called Saved By The Bell The New Class which ran from September 11, 1993 to January 8, 2000. Both Dennis Haskins and Dustin Diamond were in it.

Some people may think it's sad that a 60-year-old man has to live in a role he last played 11 years ago in order to make a living, but I think it's cool that he's having fun with it. I mean, it's a little sad, but not as sad as Jaleel White trying to break into other roles and asking people not to call him Urkel.

So it's sad if people cash in on their past glories, but it's also sad if they try to move past them? That makes a lot of sense.

I would drink with Belding. Then I would say: "You mess with the bull, you get the horns!" until he tried to beat me up.

Not so much that they try to move past them, but that they try... and fail.

As much as I've tried to forget that abortion of a spinoff, sadly it is still embedded in my brain.

the worst thing about saved by the bell the new class was screech's voice still trying to screech, it was even almost an octave higher than it was at the end of the original series. Hell even very early in the original show (the miss bliss episodes) his voice wasn't as screechy as they made him portray it later in the senior high/new class episodes.

ugh, it was just awful.

Is it just me or does he look a bit downsy now? Look at the pic in tfa. Some people can pull off fat. (Look at Shatner. He might be fat but he's still kind of cute.) Sorry Mr. Belding you can't pull off the fat look.

This article is completely pointless. The date listed is 10/21/2011, but if you go to Mr Belding's website, his last public appearance was in March 2011 and he doesn't have any other dates scheduled. Why the hell is this even relevant?

When I was 14, I visited my brother in college, and I went to a store that sold inappropriate t-shirts, one of which said "I farked Kelly Kapowski," but not quite so PC. I bought it, and was able to wear it about 4 times before it got back to my parents that I owned such a shirt. It was taken from my possession and thrown away, and ever since then (i turned 31 two weeks ago), I've always kinda wished that I still had that shirt.

I wouldn't buy it now, though, because that would be pathetic. But to have had it through high school and college, I think, would have been pretty cool.

texdent: The New Class lasted nearly 7 years? Did not know that.

i was saying that as i was scrolling. get out of my mind! it wasn't kitty!

on topic, that guy had to have an awesome, or crappy time doing the shows. for most of it he was the adult, but the "kids" were "bigger stars". glad he's doing well.

still say the biggest mind screws from that show were 1. finding out there was an earlier version with Ms. Bliss, and 2. Zach hooking up with every other main girl and it being forgotten after the episode. might be others, but my young mind was watching it on syndication.

Good for him, embracing the thing that made him famous and enjoying himself with it. A lot of these actors that are one and done in beloved series can get bitter if they don't continue acting in a lot of popular hings (see Urkel) but I always thought that if it were to happen to me I'd embrace it. Someone loved something that you were in, enough to always identify you with that thing, and be excited about it long past its relevance when they meet you. Millions of people would enjoy that kind of recognition and knowing they touched peoples lives in some way.

Hell George Takei is still doing anything Star Trek and is always proud to be associated with it. Never bitter that the thing he is best known for happened forever ago.

Is Jaleel White really bitter? I've read a few interviews with him and his stance on the whole thing was usually "I was one of the luckiest black kids to ever be on television and get super rich..."

I actually met him during an appearance he did at a college I once worked for. He was thoroughly decent and took time to take every picture, sign every autograph and chat pleasantly with everyone.

I say, good for him. He's like a one-hit wonder musician. He had that one real taste of fame, and continues to make the most of it. Instead of bemoaning how nobody wants to take him seriously as an actor, he realizes he was fortunate to have that one shot on a successful show that hundreds or thousands of struggling actors would have killed for and millions of people watched.

And it's not like he doesn't get work anymore. He had a funny turn on one episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and I remember he also had a bit part on an episode of West Wing.

Good for you, Mr. Belding. Make yo paper, Boo.
