Mustard gas prevents blindness? Is that only for Hitlers?

Stupid Flanders.

If I recall, however, mustard gas did cause him to grow a toothbrush mustache, because the larger Prussian mustaches breaks the seal on the gas masks.

I think the most interesting Hitler story is his interaction with Private Henry Tandey in WWI:

Hitler and Tandey encountered each other after the battle at Marcoing (in October 1914, whilst Tandey was serving with the Green Howards). A weary German soldier wandered into Tandey's line of fire. The enemy soldier was wounded and did not even attempt to raise his own rifle. Tandey chose not to shoot. The German soldier saw him lower his rifle and nodded his thanks before wandering off. The soldier was later identified as Lance Corporal Adolf Hitler of the 16th Bavarian Infantry Regiment. Hitler later saw a newspaper report about Tandey being awarded the VC (in October 1918, whilst serving with the 5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment), recognized him, and kept the clipping.[7]

Tandey, now a war hero, was featured in a painting, commissioned by the Green Howards Regiment, by Italian artist Fortunino Matania, carrying a wounded soldier at Ypres. In 1937 Hitler asked Tandey's old regiment for a large photograph of the painting, which was sent. Captain Weidmann, Hitler's adjutant, wrote the following response: 'I beg to acknowledge your friendly gift which has been sent to Berlin through the good offices of Dr. Schwend. The Führer is naturally very interested in things connected with his own war experiences, and he was obviously moved when I showed him the photograph and explained the thought which you had in causing it to be sent to him. He has directed me to send you his best thanks for your friendly gift which is so rich in memories.' Hitler also obtained a copy of Tandey's service record.

In 1938, when Neville Chamberlain visited Hitler at his alpine retreat, the Berghof, for the discussions that led to the Munich Agreement, he noticed the photograph and asked about it. Hitler replied, "that man came so near to killing me that I thought I should never see Germany again; Providence saved me from such devilishly accurate fire as those English boys were aiming at us". He also asked Chamberlain to convey his best wishes and gratitude to Tandey. Chamberlain promised to phone Tandey in person on his return, which he did.

As funny as it seems, it's hard to over-state how brutal WWI was, and how many men were ruined by shellshock.

You would have to eat a whole lot of mustard to get gas from it.

Judge: Mr. Phillips, please answer the question!
Duke Phillips: All right! Yes, I sold the mustard gas to Qaddafi!
Judge: What?
Duke Phillips: Uh... mustard... gives me gas, as does taffy.
Judge: I have the same problem with fresh fruit.

Fascinating story. I wonder how Tandey felt about it during WWII

Now research has exposed Hitler's account of his own gallantry as a sham and revealed that his temporary loss of sight was actually caused by a mental disorder known as 'hysterical blindness'.

That's historically hysterical. This article sounds doctorly.

I like how Hitler had some of the people who knew about *his file* commit suicide under mysterious circumstances. The guy gassed million jewish people, openly had his political rivals murdered, and fought a war of extermination against a hudred million slavs. then he has the gestapo kick mrs. krueller down the stairs and break her kneck and pretend like it was an accident so no one suspects him of the murder.

At least he had both of his balls unlike Goring

Goring has only got one ball
Hitler's are so very small
Himmler's so very similar
And Goebbels has no balls at all

Not really. Just making the point that war stress to the point of overt physical reactions wasn't something indicating Hitler was intrinsically broken; it was actually fairly common amongst soldiers of the time.

Mom suffered temporary hysterical blindness for some three weeks (?) when i was quite young. it was scary not knowing if she would recover, not knowing what caused this tragedy to happen. Mom is quite insane but that's irrelevant. This was brought on, i learned much later, by extreme stress at the workplace and in her marriage. One can be quite mad and still function on a daily basis, with a high IQ as well, which just seems to further muddy the waters.
I've been to sites where people are very anti-psychologist and hate Big Pharma, forgetting that many do benefit from the professionals of both fields. People like Mom, who never seek help, they are the ones who scare me.
Hitler's cruel experiment ruined the good name of eugenics, perverting a logical and sound science and hurting many in doing so. It is scary to live among mental defectives and difficult to overcome unwelcome genetic traits that get passed on. People can get on a moral high horse but if one hasn't worn the shoes one can also STFU. Breeding your best and brightest not only makes for a better tomorrow, it spares others from the life you yourself wouldn't want to lead.

The story of how he was cured is kind of interesting. Apparently Hitler willed himself into seeing in order to get back into the fight.

gosh...never would have picked Hitler to be the psychologically-unstable type.

Hitler, who served in the 16th Bavarian Reserve Regiment, was twice awarded the Iron Cross, but Dr Weber said this was largely due to the fact he knew officers who made recommendations

but

'Hitler left the First World War an awkward loner who had never commanded a single other soldier

If he was an awkward loner he would not have been an able enough sycophant to get prestigious medals for it. He either was awkward and deserved the medals or he was socially adept and did not, but he could not be both. I get the distinct impression that these guys have no regard for historical truth, and honestly, there's no need to lie about Hitler to make him look bad; he started a war that killed 50 million people.

Indeed.

Hitler's (and Germany's) beef with "the Jews" didn't really get rolling until after WWI, when the details of the Balfour Declaration and the Treaty of Versailles began to come to light.

10/10
Eugenics isn't a science, it's just a word for breeding humans. The only people who (by most counts) get to decide this sort of thing is parents. If they want to abort a "mentally defective" child, they do. The idea of making it policy, however, requires all sorts of unpleasant decisions.
