So subby would prefer to let a murderer go free because they hid from the authorities for a long time?

2011-10-21 10:53:03 AM
There is no statute of limitations on murder.

Sometimes, subby old boy, it ain't about you.

Wow, she threw a pot of hot grease on him, and he died 3 days later. That sounds like an awful way to go.

But she's old now! And her back hurts. I say she's suffered enough.

She looks like she should be on Squidbillies. I kind of do feel genuinely safer with this person locked up.

Hawt like a pan of grease.

And she should be convicted and at the very, very least put under house arrest for the rest of her life. Minimum security prison also makes sense.

We have a justice system for a reason. The victims family deserves some kind of closure.

2011-10-21 01:24:32 PM
Isn't that basically what happened to that guy that plowed though the farmers market in Santa Monica and killed something like a dozen people? He was convicted but not sent to jail because he was old?

2011-10-21 01:24:36 PM
So did her kid know she murdered her husband?! I don't think I could live with someone knowing they murdered a person (or raped, or anything else involving an innocent). I'd always be looking over my shoulder expecting a grease attack.

B-b-but the justice system is supposed to be about rehabilitation and helping these folks see the light, not punishment and retribution!

Good. Lock up the old bag.

Here's the rule: If you murder someone, you get punished. You don't get a free pass because you were able to avoid the police for a few decades.

"Lowery would not disclose details of the original incident that led to Cruz Rivera's death, but did say that his wife was angry with him on Oct. 14, 1970. She boiled a pot of grease, then threw it on him. Cruz Rivera died of his injuries three days later."

Lots of women kill their husbands with grease. It just takes 30 years instead of 3 days.

Reasons for using prison/detention for criminal law enforcement:
1) Protecting the public from continued crimes by the offender
2) Deterring effect on other potential offenders
3) Rehabilitation of the offender
4) Vengeance (yeah, it's antiquated but it's real, and it keeps you elected)

2/4 ain't bad.

So, Subby, she should be let off the hook for killing another human being in an horrifying manner because she's old?

She got to grow old, unlike her victim. Time to pay the price.

(buzzer) Wrong answer!

It's about holding people accountable for their actions, and yes, removing a threat from society so that it can't do further harm to the general public.

After seeing that picture, I feel safer, too, Subby.

I see 1/4 at best, and that is maybe 50/50, given how old the crime is, but don't really have a problem with the prosecution, but equally if had been left given the amount of time and her condition that would equally be valid given the limited benefits at this point.

Hey guys, has anyone else repeated my joke that she looks a lot like Anne Ramsey from Throw Momma From the Train and Goonies?

I hope subby is trolling. I'm tired of hearing about the "poor old folks" who get locked up for crimes they committed. Just like ex-Illinois Gov. George Ryan or ex-Chicago police commander John Burge.

Justice delayed is still justice served.
