He's the hero Michigan deserves.

Well if you're going to get shot up by a bunch of coke dealers, you might as well do it wearing a cape.

HBO is doing a documentary about this movement. Don't know if it aired yet but it looked interesting. Interesting or funny, I haven't decided yet.

Mark Wayne Williams, a.k.a. Michigan's "Batman."

Well, odds are it was either gonna be something like this or child murder.

alwaysjaded: HBO is doing a documentary about this movement. Don't know if it aired yet but it looked interesting. Interesting or funny, I haven't decided yet.

I saw that documentary a few months ago. Wow...just wow. My favorite was the guy in the van: "I don't have much of a social life." Shocker, that.

The documentary did find one sympathetic group. I think they were based in NYC. They were trying to set up a gay-bashing sting which, on the surface, seemed pretty well put-together. One guy as bait, the others in cars or on skateboards just a few streets away or around the corner. Then they were interviewed individually and you realized just how seriously messed-up these people were. A bunch of kids from AWFUL home lives, one who admitted he had anger-management issues, all just trying to do some good or focus their conflicting emotions. I really felt bad for them.

Alan Moore had the right idea. What kind of people would voluntarily dress up in costume & fight crime? Psychopaths and psychotics.

I keep seeing "Michigan Batman" as "Michelle Bachmann".

Perhaps she should use that.

Michigan Batman and Seattle's Phoenix Jones should duke it out.

/Would watch that on PPV.

Come for the Michigan Batman, stay for the Michigan Batman.

I hope MI's neighbor across the lake doesn't get one.

Pfft - Illinois Batman. I hate Illinois Batman.

So I may yet have a career opportunity in trying to take over the world while dressed as a clown. Good to know.

When Michigan resident Mark Wayne Williams was caught in May hanging from a building wearing a Batman outfit, police promptly arrested him for trespassing and possession of dangerous weapons, according to Michigan's Petoskey News-Review.

Pfft. Amateur.

Dwight Schrute: I have no vampire experience, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got there, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

The "super" in super hero denotes super human ability. These folks are just heroes. Ok, well actually they're just dorks. But I think I've made my lame, boring point.

2011-10-21 12:33:38 PM
Great. Now everyone knows who Phoenix Jones is. Everyone knows which family to target.

And, based on the vid I saw, he was pepper spraying people who attacking him (or at least pretending to). He was responding to assault.

So vigilantism is the same as super hero?

From the preview, I couldn't tell if it was a sympathetic look or a "Hey, look at these weirdos" look. I really want to see it. I'm always fascinated by these on the edge of human behavior types.

Then I saw the tubby Batman and I was all like: "Ah, I see."

I *really* don't see that happening there. Or in any of the immediate cities, actually, and I used to cover it fairly extensively for work two weeks a year.

"Just because he's dressed up in costume, it doesn't mean he's in special consideration or above the law," Seattle police spokesman Detective Mark Jamieson said of Jones.

The same goes for you cops!

Came for this, thought that real-world states and cities are Marvel territory and you'd have to go to "Gotham", "Metropolis" or "Coast City" for the DC crowd.

If you're dressing up either way, wouldn't choosing to be a supervillain be so much more fun?

I've been looking through the profiles on that reallifesuperheroes site. There are some terrible costumes there.

I saw an interview with Phoenix Jones a few days back on Fox and have to say that he's a pretty cool dude. He's a perfectly normal guy who doesn't like seeing people being taken advantage of by criminals. The world would be a better place with more people like him instead of the internet generation that hides in their houses and is happy as long as the bad shiat isn't happening to them.
