The NYPD has become so focused on Terrorism that they now only know how to respond to things as if they were terror. When you start treating folks legitimately protesting as an enemy organization to gather intel on - well that just reeks of having an overly military mindset. I hate to say this but you know on the next block over from Liberty Plaza and ten years ago you were heroes. But it's gotten to you. We called you heroes so long you seem to think everything you do is right. Right now you are being thugs. You are besmirching the good names of your fallen brothers.

Sorry. I still want to see the raw footage from the bank surveillance cameras before I pass judgement on anyone here.

Because the 'locking them in the bank and then arresting them for trespassing' plus this doesn't raise eyebrows.

Sure. But I'm still going to trust raw video footage over verbal testimony.

If what went down is what the protesters said went down, the bank will never release footage. Hell they probably never will, but if the protesters are anywhere close to the truth, the bank won't because they would look bad. So you're basically putting off making any kind of judgement by demanding an impossible.

if the cops are going COINTELPRO already then someone upstairs must be more worried than they're letting on. this thing really has the GOP and their minions twisted up inside.

I believe that's his point.

The footage of the undercover cop arresting the woman and dragging her back into the bank is already out there on the intertubez.

They've been worried since they managed to form the Tea Party out of the Religious Right

So, for all the Teapologists who have claimed that racist signs were from liberal infiltrators, this is what a false flag actually looks like.

While the undercover cop is troubling, these people did deserve to be arrested. "You're allowed to trespass until police come and tell you to leave - they're not allowed to arrest you without warning you first!" How dumb can you possibly be?

2011-10-20 11:21:37 PM

fail. it would be a "birf certificate gambit" if they released the video and I claimed it was a short form of the video and demanded to see the full video in 4k HD while knowing full well the security cams record at VGA and in black and white.

Dwight_Yeast: ...except for the woman the cop drug back into the bank.

She left with the other 3? Why was she singled out?
Maybe she was trying to leave after the officer identified himself and told them they were arrested (which according to the guy interviewed is "illegal").

There is video. He says something to her along the lines of "you were with everyone else" or something like that. Couldn't make it out myself.

FWIW, to me, undercover seemed like something of a douche in the video. A bit rougher than seemed necessary, but what do I know. What's the point? Why not let her leave if that's what she wanted?
I would add, though, IIRC rather than saying "I'm leaving", she was shaking some paper in his face saying "I AM A CUSTOMER" or something like that.

2011-10-20 11:34:38 PM
Here's the video

She's outside when most of what happens goes down, which means she's already left the bank.

The fact that she's a customer does give her the right to be in the bank, unless she was asked specifically to leave.

Want to find the cop.

He is the talking about doing stupid or violent things and is looking for a sucker to buy in..

I don't care if it creating a racket on private property for a low level arrest or knows a source of SAM missiles for that angry young man.

Probably because the rest of them got the fark out of there while she was still yelling at people through the bank windows and making a scene? If she had just departed the area, she would not have spent the night in jail. Yelling about 'being a customer' isn't going to convince the undercover cop who five minutes before saw you chanting along with the other tattooed, mohawk-sporting crazy people inside.

Waiting to pass judgment until there is something other than circumstantial evidence? I'd like the bank to release the footage as well, otherwise it would be impossible to judge what happened, the banks, cops and protesters are all going to say whatever covers their own asses. Not that I don't believe it to be possible for an undercover officer to have done what they said, only hearing about it a week later from someone who would want those arrested to not look bad is not anymore believable than the banks PR statement.

They came unarmed this time?

"Most of what went down"? 30 seconds into the video, the guy from the interview I posted says they're getting arrested. All the stuff he described happened in a span of 30 seconds?
She's outside for most of the video. When the video started vs. when "most of what went down" went down, may (or may not) be two different things.

Dwight_Yeast: The fact that she's a customer does give her the right to be in the bank, unless she was asked specifically to leave.

Agreed. Further, same should apply for any member of the public.

So? Here's a hypothetical: I walk into a gas station and buy a candy bar. Then I shiat on the floor right in front of the attendant.

Yelling "I'm a customer" as I'm being arrested doesn't fix the situation. Valid customer or lot, if they tell you to leave and you stick around, you're trespassing.

can you think of any examples of right wing power brokers, republicans, banking oligarchs etc who are interested in busting police unions?

Specifically in this case the PBA. Who is trying to bust the PBA and steal their pensions?
