Yeah, because women's basketball is such a big money-maker... Does any school's athletic program (other than perhaps the top 5 programs) make money from their "fundamentals"? Didn't think so.

Conference realignment is all about the money, and as such football is king, men's basketball is the crown prince, and all women's sports are the 12th Baronet of Irrelevancy.

Way to give Notre Dame an ultimatum there ya feisty powerless lil ladies basketballer. GIVE THE BIG EAST YOUR FOOTBALL MONIES OR GET OUT!

Guess what dumbass? The big East is sinking it's own football ship so fast that rats are standing in line to leave, no team with money wants to come aboard. But you knew that already. Because you little niche sport needs mens football money to stay afloat. Maybe you should think about laying some of the blame where it really belongs, or get in the queue to leave the sinking ship.

Bingo. Notre Dame is going to be just fine without the Big East, and if/when they decide to join a conference for football they'll have their pick. They sure are fark aren't responsible for the future of the Big East, and I don't remember anybody forcing the Big East to accept Notre Dame as a non-football member.

Its good that he doesnt need Big East football money. Because the Big East football money is getting shorter and shorter every year. Since he doesnt need or want the football money what do you think his beef with Notre Dame football stems from?

He was talking about the football wrecking the conference, Adding ND was stupid. There really wasn't a benefit to it,

To try and keep the league.

FTFA: "The only thing you're sure of is they don't play [football] in our league and never want to play in our league," Auriemma said. "For a lot of us, it's a huge problem."

League? What farking league? Or the Big East conference? Because he doesnt need Big East football at all from what you said earlier.

You said his program existed on football money. That simply isn't true. In TFA he talks about Big East football. His point is that ND could provide some stability by joining the Big East football conference. He also points out that they were never interested in doing so and he does not like that fact. The Big East is dying and he's pissed. Not real hard points to grasp.

They either need football or they do not. Clearly they do or the Big East would be fine without ND football, rather than shrivelling into death on the vine. Girls basketball at UConn will survive without Notre Dame football money. Big East girls basketball at UConn may not. This is hardly Notre Dames football's fault. No blame should be coming from the dumbass towards Notre Dame football over Big East shortcomings. Smart money is leaving the Big East and not joining it.

Again he should be one of the more vocal rats squeaking for UConn to leave the sinking conference and board a more seaworthy conference ASAP. He should not be squeaking for Notre Dame football to join him aboard his sinking conference to waste money on new deck chairs and party decorations.

"If Notre Dame had come in as a football and basketball school, all in, we wouldn't have a problem," Auriemma said. "Miami wouldn't have left. Virginia Tech wouldn't have left. Boston College wouldn't have left [all for the ACC]. We probably wouldn't have any of these issues, would we?

This.

The time for high standards and no partial-dealing was when Notre Dame first joined the Big East. The other Big East schools could have done exactly what the Big-10 did, and what the Big-12, the PAC-10, the SEC or any other self-respecting conference would have done. They should have told Notre Dame to go pound sand and get lost unless they joined all-in (football too).

But the Big East was too greedy/scared/unrealistic to do that - they let Notre Dame join as a partial member, and now that's what they're stuck with.

By the way, having Notre Dame football wouldn't prevent them from losing the automatic qualifying bid because ND football kind of stinks. Their real problem is that no schools from the Big East have been consistently good at football for the last decade and a half - it's hard to justify giving the conference winner an auto-bid over the 3rd place SEC team these days.

So he's making his point about 10+ years too late. Ergo not wrong but a dumbass none the less.

I would love to hear Lou Holtz's reaction to this. Then I would like to UNDERSTAND what Lou said.

Headline confused me. Football Jesus? Tim Tebow isn't mentioned once in that article.
