It's not Mini's fault that their drivers are so flaming

They don't like water, either.

Sounds like a feature...

Some people pay a lot of money for water injection systems.

True, but when you pay a lot of money for one of those systems, they manage to avoid pumping water into the cylinders. You get what you pay for, I guess...

When I was looking up mini coopers back in 2007 or 2008, there were already known electrical/fire issues. 5 years later they still haven't fixed it?

Good German engineering my ass. I will never buy a BMW-made car.

They started manufacturing them in Mexico in the early 2000s. If you Re going to get a mini, get one that's REALLY from the other side of the pond.

First gen MINI engine designed by Chrysler. Nuff said.

are they sure those aren't buyers' remorse related fires?

expensive little farkers, tiny, shiatty gas mileage for what they are. Car that small should be 40-45 mpg highway at least, from what I've been able to glean, 28-31mpg is more like it. They weigh half a ton less than my subaru outback, they should be clobbering it for mpg, instead of just barely besting it.

If they made some that were gas sippers instead of slurpers, I'd think about it. I don't need 0-60 at breakneck speed, I want to be able to pass gas pumps, I don't give a fark about the other cars on the road. How can minis with 168 hp (same as my subaru) be getting such shiatty mileage?

The Smart is much smaller and barely cracks 40 MPG. The regular Mini gets 37 MPG highway. When did 30+ MPG become 'shiatty mileage'?

I would totally Savage that Winnie Cooper.

Well, if you Americans would stop adding all sorts of heavy and power zapping emissions crap to your cars then you could have better MPG too.

That or adopt Diesel; then you can have a 58.9Mpg MINI like the rest of the world enjoys.

/Oh you can't, you are not allowed. Ah well!

My Aunt and Uncle lost their house to "Flaming Lincoln" , Town cars would catch on fire when some sort of switch went bad and overheated while the car was turned off. It was common enough that there used to be a website called flaming lincolns, but i think it is gone now.

Two of the best cars I've owned were used BMW's. Had a 528e that was unkillable until a Semi merged into it and shredded the front tire at highway speed......causing a slide and roll on the grass berm. Then had a 525i that was just such a nice car for years and years. Then of course I got married and it turns out that a baby seat in the back of a BMW is sort of a deal breaker....ruined the leather, so I had to sell it and get a wagon.

Im going to guess that these electrical issues draw more from the supply of cheap automotive parts from china than they do to a fault in engineering. Electricity is a pretty predictable beast, when you break a circuit it should stay broken until you re-connect it.

urban.derelict: too goddamn small

Hells yeah, I'd rather drive a Fiat 500 than a mini cooper.

Well, I would rather my wife drive a 500......its not a mans car. Neither is a mini cooper. I think I could fit a 500 in the bed of my truck.

Because diesel is consistent with the concept of reducing emissions.

Also: Europe and the US use a different volume standard for "gallons".
