It's probably the lure of the money. Seriously, as expensive as prosthetics are, I'd give a big hand to anyone who could offer them for less than an arm and a leg. I'm not talking about handouts, just a little leg up. Because footing the bill for one of those things can really be an exercise in extremity.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the new prosthetics are worth it. They can swim circles around the old ones.

My brother in law lost his leg just above the knee just a few weeks ago. I'm seriously hoping he goes as a pirate for Halloween.

Not a girl, dude, brother in law means a male. So the appropriate joke would be Matt or Russell.

My company makes some parts that go into some very high end prostheses. A couple years ago, there was an artificial hand on the cover of Time Magazine. The parts we made for the wrist were very visible.

It is fascinating stuff

We never asked for this.

Seriously though, I was very much impressed with HR. Was a worthy sequel to De 1, if a bit flawed in places.

The boss walked in and said: "this is kind of what I want, figure out the rest" as he handed me a sketch on a napkin. Thats pretty much how I started.

Oh dear. That thread made me laugh so hard I cried. Somebody kept making lolpics with a disapproving Asian realdoll.

If I were a carpenter, I'd hammer on my piglet. I'd collect my seven dollars, and I'd buy a big prosthetic forehead and wear it on my real head.

Here in the Chattanooga area, there is a store called Stubbs Prosthetics and Orthotics. It used to be called Stubbs Limb and Brace.

We also used to have a Hemlock Pharmacy before all the big chain drugstores took over.

If he just lost his leg above the knee, I doubt he'll be going anywhere without a wheelchair.
And pirates never look good in wheelchairs
