Seriously, watching and linking directly to G4TV videos is a sign of mental deficiency. Can't we all just admit it?

That's what I thought it was when I saw the commercial on telly.
Looks great though.

Except with Shia LeBouf in the starring role.

More like Indiana Bro-nes. I'll never understand how Drake manages to have a popped collar even in a collarless shirt.

Indiana Jones was fun and interesting.

And here I thought it was a rip-off of King Solomon's Mines.

I thought was just Tomb Raider without the two best parts.

Not legally, no.

I heard something about Nathan Fillion in an Uncharted movie.

/Maybe someone was just lobbying for it.

Did Indiana Jones pimp for Subway???

I think not, subby!! I THINK NOT!

Haven't played the third part yet (but it's on my gamefly queue) but the most annoying thing from the first two is the grunting. How can Drank remain hidden when he grunts that much?

Rip off of Indy or not, it's still the best game series on the PS3.

/preordered UC3

The third one isn't out yet. 11/1/11 release date.

Only played Uncharted 2. Decent game, not mind-blowing. Did have a lot of fun playing as Donut Drake for a while, though.

Because, you know, watching morbidly obese people run around is hysterical.

Um... don't they? Admit it, that is. It's cited as basically their most important influence in every interview I've ever read (along with some other works from the genre, obviously, but most of those are novels and comics, so not quite as visually inspirational). And they went out of their way to get Harrison Ford to play it, they're obviously fans.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, either. Especially since they took out the whip stuff that would be annoying as hell in a game.

Oh well. Since I don't plan on getting it and don't really thing that I'll be getting it in the next 6 months, I doubt that the actual release date will matter. Great games though and getting platinum on them isn't a chore like with other games - looking at you Fallout New Vegas.

Well I don't know if there's a correlation here because Uncharted 2 was great and Temple of Doom was garbage.

Pretty much, and guess what? That's why it's awesome. Drake's become the everyman hero for this generation of games. UC 2 was ana amazingly well put together experience, with some fun multiplayer.

But if there is one thing I have to highlight, it's the women in the series. the girls are hot, without having to resort to the cheap fan service and T&A other games do. Elena and Chloe were also well acted, and could hold their own in a fight, again setting them apart from other game girls.

I never thought there was any doubt that the entire Uncharted series was supposed to be Indiana Jones in a video game. Overall, I've had more fun playing the Uncharted games than I have playing any other game since 2 player Gauntlet on the NES.

I am currently playing through the first one, it's been pretty good so far. My one real complaint is that I am sick of having to shoot a guy in the chest four times with an assault rifle before he goes down. I realize head shots are more efficient, but the hit detection in the game seems a bit off, so what's the point in trying.

2011-10-20 06:17:58 PM
I wish they'd made nathan drake a little bit more like Indy and a little bit less like "smug and kinda douchy modern concept of what Indy would be"

A whole lot of THIS. My favorite part of the first Uncharted was Drake's exhausted, fourth wall flirting dialogue like "Didn't I just do this?" and "Where do these guys keep coming from?" Much like Indy, Nate is the guy digging up lost gold statues on Saturday then losing his gas money to his poker buddies on Tuesday.

I believe they took care of that complaint for UC2 & 3.

Absolutely not, it's Tomb Raider with a good control scheme, which Tomb Raider never managed in over 10 years. It's amazing game.

I'm the first to hate on the "douchey" types people seem to associate with Drake, but he's just farking awesome. Deal with it. He's a much better personality than the majority of Hollywood actors and the game is a better production than most movies. Even the one-liners are excellent and occasionally poignant.

Back in 2005 LucasArts announced Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, with the same Euphoria behavior simulation in Grand Theft Auto IV and The Force Unleashed, and then apparently farked it up and it only got released for low-res platforms (Wii, PS2, PSP, DS). Xbox 360 and PS3 versions never happened. So yeah, somebody else needs to make Indiana Jones games apparently, and George Lucas needs to come into the office and find out what the fark people are doing there.

I think the people who think he's douchy didn't really pay attention to the character.

Am I the only one that loved those games, but thought the supernatural element was really stupid? It just felt way out of place with the rest of the universe. I mean, a guy scaling a wall with multiple gunshot wounds isn't realistic, but (SPOILER ALERT kind of...) gold that turns people into monsters and a magic tree that makes explosive resin and turns people into monsters is a little bit much, no?

Or a magical box from God that melts Nazis like they're candle wax. Or a guy who can rip someone's beating heart out and show it to them. Or a chalice that turns water into a magical healing potion.

Unless UC3 pulls out some kind of insane mechanic or story element, I think Batman has GOTY locked up. I haven't stopped playing it since Tuesday.

I love UC3 and Drake, but Batman is just a fuller game, with all the side missions and such.

/And combat is so freaking fun

Does anyone with a PS3 actually dislike this game or is it just Xbox owners who can't play it because its a PS3 exclusive?

I liked almost everything about Uncharted 1 and 2 except all the goddamn rock climbing in 2.

It got a bit excessive and frankly was so over-the-top it ruined the suspension of belief.

bikerific: Even putting aside the questions of who designed, built, and maintained gigantic moving puzzles that could only be operated by olympic gymnasts inside an ice cave in the Himalayas

That is always what I think when I play these climbing adventure games. In the games defense, that area was made to look like it didn't actuall require climbing around back when it was properly maintained, the problem Drake was having was that most of the pathways had crumbled or broken... or had a giant bell dropped on it. Tensu didn't seem to have much trouble getting around.

Didn't Uncharted 2 have a "ticket please" joke on the train when you throw someone off?

CowboyNinjaD: Does anyone with a PS3 actually dislike this game or is it just Xbox owners who can't play it because its a PS3 exclusive?

I'm going with the latter. The most I've ever heard were minor complaints about combat mechanics and some overly long gunfights with pirates and mercs, both of which I agree with. Aside from that it's flawless.

CowboyNinjaD: Does anyone with a PS3 actually dislike this game or is it just Xbox owners who can't play it because its a PS3 exclusive?

I don't dislike it per se but I don't see it as a "gotta have it when it comes out" experience. It's cinematic as all hell and has some of the best writing and implementation of the writing that I've ever seen in a video game series and it's a great ride until it's over.

And then it's an action platformer with a story I know all about now. And, for me, the multiplayer doesn't do it (me like knuckle dragging MP that mostly twitch. Call of Duty. Or co op like Portal 2 or Borderlands). It's competently done but, in terms of the actual nuts and bolts gameplay, it's not special or addictive to me. God of War is another series I'd describe almost the same way except in that it's more of "I'm playing because I want to see what crazy ass shiat the devs will have me do next" than "wow, what great story and dialogue!"

But it's not good enough gameplay that it makes me want to play it again so I can see those neato scenes again.

Batman, OTOH, I play once for the story and then the pure joy of the gameplay keeps me coming back. The fights have that guitar hero addiction for me and the little moments in the predator mode missions that make me feel like Batman are awesome (one of the challenge medals is "appear out of nowhere to scare a terrified enemy" and I did it by silently landing behind the guy while he was backing up and he bumped into me and freaked out, trying to shoot me with a gun I'd already disabled remotely. THAT's Batman). All the Riddler stuff and side missions they put in it is just icing on the already delicious cake.
