Meh. The Iranian mission to the UN is in my building. These people are short people. There's really not much to see here.

/a lot of activity for the last four weeks

/they shuffled Susan Rice in last Wednesday

Something about a letter.

Too tired to be outraged.

"The UN then responded by electing Iran as the leading head of the Human Rights council for all of eternity."

If you treat your citizens worse in the 21st century than you did in the 6th century BC, then you might have a human rights problem.

Well, a bunch of really, really old motherfarkers have appointed themselves government-for-eternity and the country is like 50% under 30 years old. There's only two ways to keep that kind of situation stable, and they sure as hell aren't going to allow actual, legitimate elections so that basically narrows it down to control through violence.

Jim_Callahan: control through violence.

Orwellian control too. That's a possibility.

I mean, violence is involved but it's generally under-wraps.

Iran and human rights - two things that definitely don't go well together. In fact, there's no country on Earth with a Muslim majority and a good track record on human rights, if you define human rights as being willing to tolerate people who aren't their brand of Muslim. Why do liberals support Islam, given that they'd all be persecuted and/or dead if the US were Muslim instead of nominally Christian?
