To be fair, Clinton out-Blacked him.

Wow. I just realized two things:

Bill Clinton is a very smart man.

Herman Cain is a fkn dumbass.

OK, I didn't just realize these things, I knew them all along.

To be fair--Clinton was the student in that debate, saying something like "send me your figures and I'll take a look at them and then get back to you " (he never did get back to him)

No he didn't.

No, I don't know that for a fact, any more than you know what you claim for a fact.

violentsalvation: No he didn't.

Yeah, he did. That video is cut off. Actually, Clinton says "Send it to me and we'll work on it." You can see it here. And yes--according to Cain--he did send Clinton the information, and Clinton never responded.

People take politicians at their word all the time.

Which is rather unfortunate, no matter what your party affiliation is.

Also, while Cain is a politician in 2010, in 1994-he was a CEO of a company whose business would have been affected by Hillarycare, and whose primary responsibility was the welfare of that company. So, yes, if the President of the United States offered him an opportunity to provide him data and help craft those policies--I have little doubt that he would have forsaken such an opportunity.

What merit? Your belief that Cain provided the figures? THAT merit?

Do you really want to address the "merits" of Cain? I'd be happy to. I am not "dismissing" him as a dumbass, I am considering his positions and the words he uses to support them and concluding on the basis of this evidence that he falls far short of adequate to be President - he is, in fact, a dumbass politically speaking. He may be a brilliant businessman, but he is a dumbass in Presidential terms.

This is a conclusion I've reached based on evidence, not an offhand "dismissal"

Unless you can give me some reason to take this clown seriously, dismissing ME as "cheap and cowardly" is, well, cheap and cowardly.

The day after that debate, Herman Cain wrote Clinton a letter with his supporting data. He ALSO sent it to the WSJ, the USA Today, and others, where it was printed for all the world to see. That is, according, to the notorious right-wing publication The Atlantic which reprinted it again back in January...

One reason it's difficult to judge who was right is that, as some of you may have heard, the Clinton White House long ago ceased to be. So I'm not sure how to get the other side.

This means that Clinton totally didn't respond and he has data on that too. Also, I'd guess his numbers on the insurance increase are suspect. He gives no idea how he arrived at his $2 million estimate other than it was the max increase he could see. If I took this approach to financial analysis at my job, a Wall Street occupier would have it instead.

Lionel Mandrake: But by all means, NOMINATE HIM. PLEASE!!

The GOP nominates anyone but Huntsman (and maybe Romney), and they'll be handing Obama a second term. What the GOP needs to do (in the House, at least) is cooperate with the jobs bill as much as possible, and find a way to spin it to make them look like the good guys (instead of the "Party of NO"). This way they can (a) help fix the economy and (b) maybe take the wind out of Obama's sails.

Of course (a) not sure it's feasible, and (b) doubt like hell they'd ever try.

Wheat is a vegetable and it's the main ingredient of the crust. Tomatoes in the sauce. Cheese comes from cows and cows are vegetarians. Bacon and pepperoni comes from pigs and pigs are vegetarians. I don't think it's possible to eat more veggies than when you are eating pizza.

The problem with the modern GOP is that their positions frequently lack merit precisely because their proponents ARE stupid. Sorry. It's true. Imagine mankind's future hinges on one of the following people grasping a highly technical, complex concept very quickly:

1. Sarah Palin
2. Rick Santorum
3. Herman Cain
4. Rick Perry
5. Michelle Bachmann
6. Bill Clinton
7. G.W. Bush
8. Barrack Obama
9. John McCain
11. Mitt Romney

Pick two: one and a back-up. Be honest. In whose hands do you put humanity if brains are the necessary qualification?

You don't get to take intellect off the table just by saying "it's cheap and it's cowardly." No, it isn't. It's incredibly necessary. Have you ever hired someone for a job? Don't you have a pretty good idea of their intelligence after reading their resume, cover letter and having a short conversation with them? Doesn't it matter how smart they are?

2011-10-20 03:17:15 PM
...during the Bush years no comprehensive reform was even proposed, and the issue festered. From 1995 to 2008 health care costs more than doubled.

And then Republicans opposed even the crappy reform we did manage to drag out of them kicking and screaming the whole way and still maintain that they will reverse it as soon as they are in a position to do so.

Who cares who "schooled" who?

Herman Cain has said enough stupid shiat in the last couple of weeks to let me know the man has no business being the president of the United States...

Never mind that piece of garbage he calls his 9-9-9 plan is nothing more than a big tax break to the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the poor and middle classes.

He a greedy Plutocrat. That's all I need to know about Herman Cain.

They even have a website! I mean, look at that shiat. 999? What total farking loser would believe a skilled business person like Cain would embrace such a blatantly idiotic idea? These trolls must think the voting public are some kind of chumps. They couldn't even be bothered to think up policies for the policy page, they're the laziest farking trolls in existence. "National Security" is just a three paragraph ramble about not abandoning the troops. Someone with as much commercial acumen as Cain would be able to do a concise, detailed description of his steadfast plans, not this drivel.

For those that don't remember, this interchange between President Clinton and Cain pretty much killed support of Clinton's public healthcare proposal.
