I hope that Monsanto wins but spends so much money defending this lawsuit that they go bankrupt and the judge in bankruptcy case gives all their patents to the public domain.

Fixed for realism.

Fark Monsanto.

But I loves me some biocassava and golden rice.

Well technically the lawsuit is filed over a process used to defoliate plants, and all seeds are genetic. Don't let that slow you down, though.

That's part of the problem.

Companies have spent a lot of money, time, and energy into breeding plants that customers find aesthetically pleasing but have lower nutritional profiles, don't taste as good, but ship and store great.

Genetic engineering provides a way for them to get desired traits without all the trial and error they used to use, such as treating plants with mutagenic chemicals or subjecting them to ionizing radiation, all in an attempt to play genetic roulette and get a trait they want.

And of course, it's been perverted a bit, as any new tech is.

I look at the Enviropig, the one that can actually break down the plant phosphorus in its food and we end up with less phosphorus entering into the environment from their shiat. They can't keep the pig theirs forever.

Expect a maize of lawsuits over this.

Perhaps we shouldn't have been in such a rush to cut science funding so that more of this kind of research can be done in the public sphere.

Just a thought.

Monsanto holds the patent and copyright on batshiat, you now owe them a royalty payment for mentioning it or they'll sue your ass into oblivion.

No one is to sue anyone until I blow this whistle, even if they do say batshiat
