Fun list.

FTFA:

Ned had some trouble moving on with his life, including building an amusement park as a testament to Maude ("I'm Goin' to Praiseland"), but has recently found love again (see #10).

#10: 10) Barney's Sobriety

Oh my!

I actually don't have a problem with this list. Granted, I haven't seriously watched the Simpsons in probably 7-8 years, so a lot of it is new to me.

You can either allow the characters to grow and change, creating new plotlines(The Simpsons/Futurama, or you could keep them locked and have to go more over the top to get laughs.(Everything by Seth Macfarlane)

You should, there are some funny episodes. It really hasn't lacked quality- I think that trying to follow a show for 20 years is taxing for anyone...

What the heck is the article talking about? Everyone knows that The Simpsons hasn't been on the air since 1999.

Wait, Flanders is with Krabappel? How does that make any sense?

Say what you want about South Park, but Cartman's rant in the Family Guy episode is spot on. South Park is crude and over the top, but there is a plot and a moral.

South Park is hilarious and so was Family Guy prehiatus. Family Guy was funny BECAUSE of the random frequent asides that had nothing to with the overall plot. Anyone who needed South Park to point out that this was what primarily drove the comedy of Family Guy is not a very perceptive person.

Wasn't there a recent interview with McFarlane where he was begging for Family Guy to be cancelled? Well recancelled.

Good list, but those plots were life changing for all of the characters, it wouldn't make sense for them to retcon it for no raisin.

American Dad is the best Fox cartoon out right now. The people that rip on it never gave it a fair shot to begin with calling it a Family Guy ripoff, when it's actually a hell of a lot better. The family actually acts like a family, the plot is cohesive and doesn't derail halfway through the episode, and the jokes are relevant to the plot and not just cutaway gags. Besides Archer, Southpark, and Venture Bros. American Dad is the only animated show I will routinely watch

How are you farkers forgetting the infamous Raider's of the Lost Ark scene? Bart running through the house avoiding the "Homer Boulder" and Maggie unloads with a dart gun barely missing Bart each time. Yes she missed, but you could tell she knew what she was doing!

Actually Bob's Burgers is the best cartoon on now. But yes, American Dad has developed into a fantastic show. The first season or two I didn't care for it. But lately it has really good. It takes the jaw dropping humor of Family Guy and adds another layer which really makes you think about what's going on.

As much as I love The Simpsons (even recent ones, still funnier than lots of things) I wish they could just cancel the show before it gets really bad.

Still, I'm find Phineas and Ferb and Little Pony to be much more funny and even clever lately.

The trucker who drove Kyle to the Fox studios had a valid point, too. "I know it's just joke after joke, but I like that. At least it dosen't get all preachy and up its own ass with messages, you know?"

Yes, Family Guy was a better show pre-hiatus, when there was at least a pretense of not just being joke-after-joke. Yes, none of the McFarlane shows will ever have the emotional resonance of the best Simpsons episodes or especially Futurama episodes. But if you like 'em, you like 'em.
