There's a clip somewhere of Favre talking to Mike Carey and Favre makes a comment about "feeling old" and wishing he was Carey's age or something...Carey told Favre he was 60-ish and Favre was pretty shocked...

Bah, Boger is easy to recognize.

He's the black ref who isn't Carey.

I liked the interview awhile back with Hochuli where he states he keeps up with his workouts to prevent himself from appearing too small next to all of the football players.

I like Guns Hochuli and Mike Carey, but Old Man Winter is the most amusing to me. He's not bad, but always seems a little confused and bothered to be out there rather than playing bridge or something.

I was blindsided by the inclusion of Jeff Triplette and now I feel like there's something in my eye.

I don't understand how Terry McAuley still has a job. I wouldn't be suprised if he dies from a knifing in Cleveland (has he ever been back to cleveland since?)

/or Gene Steratore for that matter.

Is it just me or does it not actually explain what each of the categories is based on or scored out of?

I was looking for some sort of legend on the page but for the life of me I can't find one.

Damn, Mike Carey's that old? I had no idea. I enjoy watching him because he really gets into the call:

"HOLDING!" (forcefully grabs right wrist with left hand) "NUMBER SIXTY-FIVE, OFFENSE!" (forcefully points in direction of offender). "TEN YARD PENALTY, REPEAT SECOND DOWN!"

Growing up the only referee I really knew was Jerry Markbreit, mainly because my father hated his guts. If Markbreit was announced as the ref for a game, the whole family gathered to watch Dad go batshiat. It's a fond childhood memory for me.

I like the panache with which Mike Carey delivers his penalty announcements. There's that little pause, leaving me waiting with bated breath to know if it's holding on the offense or defense. Then there's the crisp staccato when he finally lets it out, and the finely choreographed pointing in the appropriate direction. It's truly sublime.

And I see now that Marisyana made this point before I did. Definitely agreed on all counts.

we work out at the same gym. saw him last week. one time he and donovan mcnabb were there at the same time. i wondered if maybe i should call roger goodeell to see if that violated smoe NFL bylaw....

i hope you're sitting down for this, but.....he's all the time doing chest and biceps. every now and then i'll see him doing cardio, but typically he's at the popcorn muscle rack.

Carey has to know that the audience loves his dramatic delivery, yet somehow has avoided going MLB Umpire overboard with it. Will be sad when he turns in his whistle.

/Strange to say that about a ref

IIRC, the interview suggested as much. It was his arm size that he was most worried about.

Forget about HGH testing for the players, I want to know if Big Ed is pissing dirty.

he's solid, i tell you what. I'd say about 6'2", 230.

last time i saw him he was going under the radar with an "NFL on FOX" baseball hat....with referee-ish black and white stripes......

After watching that clip I have to wonder why the NFL didn't put out any warnings not to let Favre flirt with you on the field. Surely they would know that an exchange like that only leads to one thing from Favre.
