10. Olympic Stadium (Playing baseball in an Olympic/CFL stadium)
09. Candlestick Park (General terribleness of everything)

Why are domes stupid? The only think wrong with Tropicana Field is its location, not the fact that it's a dome.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the guy has no idea what the difference is between irrigation and drainage.

It is true. And the center field fence was about 500 feet from home. But right field was even shorter than it was later.

ricewater_stool: And the center field fence was about 500 feet from home. But right field was even shorter than it was later.

I just looked it up - when it opened, CF was 520', left center was 460', RF was 350', and the RF line was 295'. For comparison, New Yankee Stadium is 408', 399', 353', and 315' respectively. Wow.

Sounds that way. But their drainage issues are a serious problem. When they have WPIAL (high school) games there Friday nights and Pitt games Saturday, sometimes they have to replace all of the grass for Sunday.

Tiger Stadium used to have the flag pole in the field of play. I think it was Chet Lemon who ran into it one time back in the 80's during a game I was at.

Has anyone ever tried to figure out how many more home runs DiMaggio would have had if LF at the old stadium had reasonably normal dimensions?

The Houston hill just bothers me. Also the area in left-center with the garage-looking things. I get that they want the place to be distinctive, but that's way over the top.

Also there are stupid rules depending on which catwalks and/or ladders a ball hits.

12. Heinz Field's Lack of Irrigation

A problem that was solved 3 years ago. This is that "sloppy mess" of a November field just last November.

Comerica Park also had the flagpole in play, until they moved the left field wall in after a couple of seasons.

04. Jerry-tron

Lessee, we've played a full season plus a few other games (pre-season, college, etc) in the Jerry dome. Exactly one punt has hit the Jerry-tron. In a pre-season game. When he more than likely was aiming for it, it's at a height where the punter would have to majorly fark up to hit AND they get a rekick if they hit it. And that's a problem?

2011-10-20 03:28:27 PM
To be fair, the Jerry-Tron has only been hit by a punt once. It was by the Titans punter in the very first pre-season game at Cowboy stadium. The punter ended up getting cut by the way.

I don't get it, what the hell is wrong with Dodger Stadium aside from the wait for concessions?

Well, the first and most obvious problem is the awful team which calls the place home.

They tried to grow grass in the Astrodome but it didn't work out. Hence the Astroturf. What are you gonna do,lop the roof off? You ever been to Houston in the summer? Colt Stadium was hell on earth thanks to the combination of blazing heat, high humidity and mosquitoes.

/so I've heard. Years before my time.

Doesn't make Camden Yards or PNC Park any less awesome.

/Finishing third in a division and above .500 isn't awful by any means.

Stupid rules? If you hit one in fair territory, it's fair. If you hit one in foul territory, it's foul.

If you hit one in fair territory over the outfield fence, it's a home run.

"In Florida baseball should be played outside" completely ignores that it rains in Tampa Bay every evening from July-September. "Oh, then it should be a retractable roof" those things did not exist when the stadium was designed in 1982.

You can't spell "utter shiat" without Bleacher Report.

The worst stadium idea ever was when Mizzou had Omniturf at Faurot Field. One of my friends was a sports writer for the paper and for fun he poured some water on the field from a bucket and tried to walk across the puddle. He fell.

It was our best defenseman at the time. More than once I saw a guy slip and fall on a breakaway run who didn't have anybody within 10 feet of him.

And the old Busch Stadium with the artificial turf would get up to something crazy like 130 degrees on the field in the summer.

2011-10-20 04:51:15 PM
The Trop with the stupid bullpens on the field. They have to position a ball boy there to ensure the bullpen catchers don't get drilled by foul balls up the line.

As a former broadcaster in the Florida State League, I know Florida weather is pretty sucky. Like clockwork, rain comes tumbling out of the sky at 4pm. It's eerie.

Yeah. It does rain every day at 4pm. For 15 minutes only. Just to refresh the humidity.

2011-10-20 05:02:46 PM
As a Redskins fan, I say moving the stadium to Prince George's County was a grave mistake. Should have kept in in District

The complaint about Cowboys Stadium monitor is BS. First off, it was a preseason game that the Titans' punter hit the screen. Second, it was completely obvious that he was trying to hit it: it was a shiatty punt. Finally, it's been raised since then and has never been hit during a game.

As a season ticket holder who did not feel like ponying up $50,000+ for seats between the 20s, I appreciate the jumbo-screen since it gives me a great view when the action is on the other side of the field.

Coolest stadium is Raymond James Stadium in Tampa because of reasons (new window).

Tropicana Field is awful. Never been there, but it seems like the catwalks interfering with play is enough to give it the thumbs-down.

And call it what you will, but that giant screen above the field at the Death Star is cool as fark. It's mesmerizing.

Minarets: 02. Football goal posts at the front of the end zone

CFL End zones are 20 yards deep and the field 110 yards long. Moving the posts back would change the kicking game immencely.

With the rouge (new window) it could make for more bizarre ends to games (new window).

OMGZ author ... you mean the 330 days of temperate sunshine are sometimes interrupted with a lazy 20 minute mild afternoon shower?

My God, that sounds like hell. HELL!!!!!

And to think I've sat in Texas from March to August without rain and 70 days of temperatures over 100 degree, biatching about how bad I have it. And to think of the whiners in Minnesota and Maine complaining about their winters.

Little did we know how awful Tampa Bay had it. Thanks for putting it into perspective.

yeah the author is clearly an idiot. But I expect nothing of the Bleacher Report. Half their shiat is riddled with awful spelling and grammar. Can't expect someone who can't even write to do some research or thinking.
