I know the guy that did this! I can't think of his name, but I can picture his fez plain as day.

My Grandpa is a Shriner, so I'm really getting a kick out of these responses.

Back in the 80s, they used to ride around on the three-wheeled ATVs....the ones that were eventually banned from manufacture in '87.

Yes the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine is a funny name and the Red Fez is a funny hat and they drive those funny little cars in parades but these are old dudes that fund hospitals for children!

Hospitals for children!

You can't make fun of that. Its hard to think of a better example of Pure Good (tm) than running hospitals for children.

They intend to be silly. A number of brothers in my lodge are Shriners. Some are clowns.

It's a great organization, but I'm about 20 years too young to really get much out of membership.

The Black Light patrol might be more your style. Only the Prince Hall lodges can do a 3rd degree better.

Join, being a member of the Grotto (Black Fez) and working hard to get brethren our age to join, there was a time when these groups were made of mostly young men...

Right now I'm fairly involved with Scottish Rite and the Royal Arch. Only so many hours in the day :)

I foresee joining the Shriners at some point in the not too distant future, but between being a line officer in blue lodge and my commitments in the appendant bodies I'm tied up.

It can be confusing sometimes. I didn't realize until I joined the Masons that Masonic membership was a prerequisite for the Shrine.

The median age of new Shriners is 32. Don't be too sure that you are too young to get much out of it. Check this (new window) out, if you are interested.
