I'd go with any of the Micronesian airports except GUM as worst: probably MAJ or TKK. No fans or AC that close to the equator should be a crime. And Chuuk has the lovely habit of losing power over the entire island almost every single day. Not to mention the airport is relatively far from anywhere on the worst "road" I've ever seen. Holes literally big enough to fit a car with no markings or warnings.

Apparently that site exists as a clearinghouse for complaining about LAX, which... it's just an airport, man. It's not so terribly different from most other US airports I've been in. Or, for that matter, the international ones. Why the freakout about how horrible it is?

Is it Terminal 4 (Tom Bradley International)? I've never actually used that one, though I've flown internationally out of LAX before. But that was on Air New Zealand and they left out of Terminal 2, which is perfectly decent.

RexTalionis: If you're in Asia, why not just go bespoke?

"Copy watch, sir? Tailor?"

I heard that every time I took the Star Ferry to TST. And I did get a couple suits made at Sams in Kowloon. That was years ago. The pants are trashed so I need more but I never get to Asia anymore. I just got an offer to move back to Hong Kong but couldn't take it because of wife who doesn't want to go...

Osomatic: Is it Terminal 4 (Tom Bradley International)?

It looks good, but it comes across as a douche and, unless you're from there, most people hate it?

Oh, wait, that's Tom Brady International

I've not read all the comments, but I agree with the article. I remember napping at the Manila airport while propped against the side of an escalator (surrounded by at least 200 people), because "it was too early" to open up the gate. Keep in mind this was 10 minutes before boarding time for a 6:30am flight.

Comments on LAX:

"wow... I have seen grown men in my company sit down and cry a little, when they were told they had to fly through LAX." - IrmainNewberin

"forget about Guantanamo Bay - just send the prisoners here for some torture tactics" (?)

"Africa, Asia, South America... I've not been through a single airport in any of these developing countries with an airport as putrid as LAX. " (Kirby)

"There are tonnes of food options at LAX, from deep fried lard, to sugar coated deep fried lard, to congealed microwaved fat dipped in oil... and of course some liquid sugar if you're thirsty. " (Kirby)

"The staff at LAX unfortunately are most accurately described as the stereotypical American: rude, arrogant, clueless about the world outside the USA and loud-mouthed." - nebulouseye

"LAX is California's greatest embarrassment and probably the worst airport in the USA, and that says a lot because the competition for crappiest airport is pretty fierce. " (?)

"there are constant announcements in languages that I think someone just makes up to annoy everyone." (?)

"The Intl Terminal is ALWAYS overcrowded and security and crowd control is second only in severity to the train platforms at Auschwitz." (Jerry)

digistil: filter: Is there such thing as a GOOD airport to sleep in?

Some airports have secured hotels inside, though they're not free. AMS does, and I think LHR may as well.

Singapore's Changi Airport has secure hotels you can use for 6 hours. Slept there many times, and willing to sleep on the waiting-area chairs too. I always feel safe at Changi, even by myself. It should go without saying that Changi is the *cleanest* airport in the world as well.

Does anyone know if Singapore airport still has the Science Discovery Center? So much fun to explore with your kids, and a good way to kill time between flights.
