Krieghund: They already have one. It's right next to the Staples Center.

Ha ha, came here to say exactly this.

I think it would be an utterly epic troll to steal two Minnesota franchises, especially if the Vikes went on to win a bunch of Super Bowls.

The Vikes were one of those teams I never had a personal beef with - until the childish butthurt following the recent NFCCG with the Saints. I've seen butthurt before, but nothing like that. ZOMG, let's cherry-pick some perceived slights while ignoring our own glaring mistakes! It was the refs! The Saints were being too violent in a sport known for pain! Whatever it was, it can't be that we simply pissed away the game!

/Kurt Warner didn't whine about it

And then Vikings fans would know how Browns fans felt

\\would hate to see them go, but would still be funny if they won the Super Bowl after they moved, just for the lulz.

"Taints?" Really man?

At any rate, you will see us in January. I congratulate your September victory, but even that one came down to the last play. The Brees remark was just uncalled for. Advocating the injury of opposing players speaks volumes about your character, man.

Begone with them. Climate-controlled wankball has no place in the NFC Arctic division, which should be Chicago, Green Bay, Buffalo and Cleveland if this were a just world.

Part of me will miss the Vikings being a Packers fan. But then we may get St. Louis in our division giving us 2 easy wins a year. Vikings fan, you are always welcome on our Packers bandwagon. You guys tried hard. Not your fault your owner is a sleezebag.

I honestly believe that Wilf is too smart to move the Vikings to LA, LA is a terrible NFL town. Don't talk about how the NFL is more popular than ever or the new stadiums will make all the difference. Everything costs significantly more, the pressure on the team would be extremely high just because it's in LA, and on top of that fan base is apathetic to say the least. Why ruin a good existing fan base? For fark's sake, the two teams that were in LA wanted out so bad they went to St Louis and Oakland.

Good, they should tear that thing down and completely replace it. It's old, decrepit, fragile, completely lacking in charm, ugly, and really unenjoyable all around. Nobody likes it.

But enough about the roster; let's talk about the Metrodome.

I just can't understand the concept of publicly funded stadiums for sports. I can't wrap my mind around it. I thought it had been proven time and time again that the economics didn't make sense. Why would politicians push to spend a lot of tax-payer money for a private business?

I still have problems with it too. If they want a new stadium fine go build a Jerry Jones monument to ego, but unless the state gets a chunk of the profits you are SOL

Devil's advocate: It brings 800,000+ people every year to the downtown area (plus hundreds of thousands of others to sports bars) who wouldn't otherwise be there, and they spend money in the area before (restaurants), during (beer), and after (strip clubs) the game. And most of what they spend it on is taxed.

Devil's advocate II: More jobs for people working in (concessions, ticket sales, janitorial) and around (bars, restaurants) the stadium.

Pretty much every study about the economic impact of publically funded stadiums says otherwise. Most of the money the people budget for entertainment stays the same, they just spend it at the stadium instead of movie tickets/other entertainment. It wouldn't create jobs, it would shift the same jobs from one area (Metrodome) to a new one, most of those low paying or seasonal.

Besides the usual rip off that taxpayer stadiums are, the current plan is such an obvious real estate grab for the Wilfs.

Just to be clear, I'm not a fan of publicly-funded stadiums. As much as I love the Vikings and would hate to see them leave, I don't think a new stadium should be on anybody's priority list. But if the choice is between someone having a seasonal low-wage job and no job, I'd rather see them at least earn something.

Absolutely, I just meant that it wouldn't really be creating a job since the low paying seasonal job at the Dome would just become a low paying seasonal job in Arden Hills.

After taking my 95 year old Grandpa to the inflatable toilet I agree that the Dome sucks. For someone with limited mobility the Dome just about killed him. Still against a publically funded stadium, but the one we have sucks.

Farkn Yaj Yenrac: LA is a terrible NFL town.

LIar.

on top of that fan base is apathetic to say the least.

Golly, why might that be? Let's parse some more of your stupidity:

For fark's sake, the two teams that were in LA wanted out so bad they went to St Louis and Oakland.

Bingo! So, we had the St. Louis lounge-singer prostitute who had her husband murdered > moved the team from its base to a horrible baseball/football Frankenstein that everyone hated > ran the team in to the ground > moved to St. Louis, then immediately started biatching about getting a new stadium.

And then there was this...this....abomination:
www.tiricosuave.com

He moved his team here, was wildly successful and when he couldn't extort a stadium out of three different municipalities, promptly moved back to the horrible baseball/football Frankenstein from whence he came. His heirs will either try to extort a stadium out of Oakland (not going to happen) or share a stadium with the 49ers in Santa Clara, which is...wait for it.....not where their fan base is.

I defy any city to deal with owners as vile as those two.

I completely agree.
The pro sports year in LA starts with the Laker's first preseason game, and it ends when the Dodgers are mathematically eliminated from making the playoffs.

Which is why I'm going to laugh and laugh and laugh when some sucker moves there team here.

The pro sports year in LA starts with the Laker's first preseason game first game of USC's football season and it never ends when the Dodgers are mathematically eliminated from making the playoffs.

Note: the scumbags that have nearly driven the Dodgers off a cliff are carpetbaggers from that shiathole in Massachusetts. Notice the pattern here?

I'm glad you brought this up. I would feel about 80% better about Ponder's chances at becoming a competent QB if he wasn't wearing number 7. I know it's not a rational thought, but I can't help being nervous when I see a guy in a purple #7 jersey running out onto the field.

I know land is hard to find/procure, but really, building on a Superfund site? From the link:

The site was added to the National Priorities List as a Superfund site on September 8, 1983.[2] The soil, sediments, groundwater, and surface water surrounding the plant were contaminated with base neutral acids, metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, volatile organic compounds, pesticides, cyanide, and explosives.[3]

Whatever the Vikings and their lackeys say it will cost to remediate the site, double it. I work for a construction company, we try to avoid any jobs that are going to need asbestos cleanup or similar things, the cost and hassle is enormous, with new nightmares popping up along the way almost a guarantee.

I can already see the shock, shock I tells ya! when, if they build a stadium there, 30 years from that time people start dying at the age of 30 with "mysterious" blood disorders, cancers etc.

The stupidity and mendacity of human beings never ceases to amaze me.
