Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader is actually a step up from the improv shows, reality shows, and horrible Love Connection wannabe shows they've been putting on the air.

However, GSN is dead to most of its former viewers, since the only good gameshows they air anymore are a couple hours of the same 200 episodes of Match Game, an hour of Pyramid, and an hour of Card Sharks a day. Everything else is the new crap no one gives a damn about.

FirstNationalBastard: the same 200 episodes of Match Game

I'm... actually okay with this.

Hell, I'd love a Match Game Channel.

Yeah, but once that run of 200 or so MG episodes is run through, that's it. They've been re-airing the same run of 1974 shows for the last two years.

One year out of 9.

The same run of Pyramid episodes has been airing since 2008.

I wish they would do reruns of the "Gong Show" on GSN.

I wish GSN would have shown more classic gameshows like was touted when it first came out as of now the only classic show is The Match Game and occasionally 25,000 Pyramid. They do play Family Feud but it's rarely the Ricard Dawson ones. I kinda wish they'd show either Tic Tac Dough or Scrabble.

GSN is trash, and has been trash for several years now. I guess it's a good thing they didn't pick up another asinine dating show, but they could still stand to air something from before, oh, let's say 2003.

I can't stand when Jeff Foxworthy says "The question is this:"

Also that show is almost entirely stalling. It's like watching Millionaire in slow motion

They still have the Gong Show on TV. It is just called American Idol now.

They also have the syndication rights for Germophobe And The Suitcase Brigade, Family Feud...and a few others I think I'm forgetting. But yeah, they could be doing much better with their programming.

I'm supposed to give a fark some dickweed Fark mod greenlit this? WTF is the matter with you people? At least Chuck Barris tried to be entertaining while being a complete asshole.

Hey, why not dress up your daughter to look like a slut and see if the idiots will put her on the tee vee machine? Wouldn't it be cool if we all salivate over children in skimpy clothes acting like grownups?

I was so crushed to realize that the Game Show Network only had about a year-and-a-half's worth of episodes. We would record them and looked forward to watching them every night. We would marvel at all the things that went over our heads when we saw the show as kids. And then, in less than a year, we ran through the entire stock of Match Game episodes.

Sony owns all the old Chuck Barris Gong show episodes. I don't think they are interested in letting them loose anytime soon...sad.

The Gong show was my favorite. Just a big unscripted party. Nothing like it on TV. Thinking about it today, I can't believe NBC ran it at all.

The odd thing is, Sony owns a controlling interest in GSN, So you'd think it would be easy to get old Sony game shows on the damn channel.

Would love to see this air again. Tom Kennedy as host. Alan Thicke wrote the theme. The Gauntlet of Villains. This show was great.

I remember reading somewhere (may have been Fark, but don't quote me) that GSN was going to resurrect Matchgame with some of today's best comedians. Anyone know what ever happened with that?

I can totally see Drew Carey or Jerry Springer in for Gene Rayburn.

Actually it was TBS behind that... it was several years ago and nothing resulted, sadly.

Sadly?

Thankfully.

A Modern Match Game would suck.

The thing that made Match Game 7X work was the innuendo. The days of a need for amusing innuendo are gone. Now, the "Celebrities" that make up the panel would just flat out say what everyone was thinking, get bleeped, and it wouldn't be a fraction as funny.

And that's another thing... the caliber of Celebrity on a new MG would probably suck. Would you really want to see the cast of Jersey Shore on a Match Game panel?

The only thing I watch on that channel is 25,000 Pyramid, and I'm still mad nobody is making a new version of that show....(besides that garbage version with Donny Osmond a few years back)

It's been tried, but shiatty talk shows are cheaper.

Instead of a new Pyramid, we got both The Talk and The Chew, shiatty, one word name shows featuring a bunch of coonts sitting around whining about their coonts.

I heard they did make a pilot of Pyramid, complete with the full size but updated version of the old set, but it was not picked up to go with one the coonts shows you mentioned, someone needs to pay for this injustice.....

Yep.

Andy Richter hosted a Pyramid pilot in 2010 for CBS.

They chose to pick up The Talk instead, which coincidentally is hosted by the wife of the head of CBS.

We're talking Sony a.k.a. the-company-that-has-ruined-many-a-good-thing (see The Walkman, Betamax, the Playstation).
