I cannot understand how this criminal keeps getting re-elected.

In other news, county commissioner Jefferson Davis Hogg testified that it was all that dipstick Enos's fault.

He's only "confused" when it comes time to take responsibility for his actions. He doesn't seem "confused" when he's actually doing them.

He's a friggin' coward, and one of the worst kinds - a coward with power.

Selective voting practices. It's nothing new.

Marcus Aurelius: I cannot understand how this criminal keeps getting re-elected.

The old people in Maricopa County keep voting him in. Couple of years ago when I was visiting my folks there, his re-election ad basically said "Elect me or the brown people will kill you".

Although the voters of Maricopa County are a 3window to the current GOP: If it wasn't around/done/whatever in 1920, they're afraid of it.

Abusing power can get confusing. Just keeping track of which lies you have told is bewildering when you play in Arpaio's league.

because he rigs the voting, then arrests you if you complain.

what really gets me is that this dirtbag is considered a hero among the GOP regulars. that's mind boggling in and of itself.

No he doesn't. He doesn't have to. There are enough ancient white retirees there to vote him in. he is 79 lets hope he dies soon.

He won't - not before a long comfortable retirement funded by taxpayers.

They're investigating him now. Problem is, everyone they need to talk to keeps dying or "disappearing" or winding up in prison a long way away.

I'm pretty sure they have investigated him multiple times.

Hard to tell if they are getting cock blocked politically or just sitting back and giving him enough rope to hang himself.

You can never really tell with the FBI, and that's one of the things I like about them. Criminals like Sheriff Joe get cocky after a time until the fateful day when they arrive with paperwork and a "come with us"

The takeaway from this isn't that Joe is a bastard, its that if you work for him, you damn well better record every conversation and order from him for the day he decides to use you as a scapegoat.

but still brutally authoritarian and completely unforgiving. sadistic too, for that matter. with a side of racism for flavor.

he's kind of the perfect vision of what the GOP wants to do to the rest of the country. they want clones of Sheriff Joe in every state, controlling every local roadway, keeping 'murika safe.

Marcus Aurelius: I cannot understand how this criminal keeps getting re-elected.

When I was a wee lad, growing up in north Idaho, the county sheriff lived across the street from me. It was well known all over town that he regularly beat the hell out of prisoners who were insufficiently deferential to his authority. This was considered one of his principal qualifications - so much so that most folks were willing to overlook the fact that he also regularly beat the hell out of his wife and daughters.

1). If you run against him, you're going to be accused of raping your own mother (literally) on the public airwaves.

2.) He's managed to convince voters that he is the law and order Republican, despite costing the county 100s of millions of dollars and presiding over one of the few jurisdictions in the US where violent crime is going up.

3.) What are you gonna do? Vote for some DemonRat?

I'm willing to bet my admittedly meager life savings that if "Sheriff Joe" is mentioned at the next GOP debate, the audience sure as hell won't boo like they did for the gay marine. In fact, I'm pretty sure he'd get himself a nice round of applause.

And I can't sympathize with any people who want to see the law throw Joe out of office. The voters knew what type of person he is but keep re-electing him. I'm sure that the voters will vote for a replacement that's just like Joe. It's what the voters want.

During more than two hours of questioning, mostly by counsel for the State Bar of Arizona, Arpaio's favorite response was, "I don't recall," which he repeated numerous times.

Lazy thinking, because something is common it should be accepted instead of opposed.

Since there are going to be crimes, why arrest criminals? Since there are going to be wars, why talk peace? Since there is going to be corruption, why try and root it out or punish the perpetrators?

So, in spite of Arpaio's damning testimony today, I remain pessimistic that the feds will do anything about the sheriff, even if Obama is re-elected. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and his boss are that weak-kneed

Even if the dems are scared shiatless of him (even with navy seals at your side Obama? really?), joe does seem to be stepping on alot of his fellow cons in a messy and disorganized fashion durring his reign of power. Why one of them has not taken him out sideways is beyond me. Are the people he is around and pissing on that disorganized that they didnt keep some evidence or a ace in the hole if ol crazy joe turned on them one day? Thats pretty pathetic. Mind you this isnt the worst case of this kind of crap I have seen. Was a DA in Washington state that pretty much judically destroyed anyone who dared even think opposing him for decades, sending dozens of opponents and their associates to extremely unheard of prison terms for daring to support the other candidate or bring evidence against him.

Last I heard they made him emperor or olympia or something, still to be feared.

/you can hide in a cave or vote from the rooftops, but dont for a second do you dare act surprised that this country is dangerously corrupt.
//I have a comfy cave, and my family will never set foot in washington again.
