Tiny sweaters for all the penguins!

That i too damn cute.
I tried to crochet a hat for the dog when I was on a long ferry ride. It looked like something a thorazine addled mental patient would be proud of. Dog wouldn't wear it.
/sigh

Is there a word that adequately describes something that is both horribly tragic(penguins in an oil spill), and super adorable(penguins in tiny sweaters)?

Tragorable? Adoragic? A word that actually makes sense and isn't a pathetic attempt to mash tragic and adorable together?

Adorabad is one I heard recently for that.

Also, can we crochet tiny little penguin sweaters? Knitting is for people who can't yarn with only one implement, or something.

/knitting scares me

Seconded. I can crochet, but can't knit.

I will be giving a basic knitting lesson via TinyChat later. Please bring yarn in a reasonable thickness (worsted weight is ideal) and size 7 knitting needles.

Ponzholio: Is this why my delivery of a mail-order bride was 'delayed'?

Yes. You'd better ask for a refund. Chances are, she's run out of food in the container, or if not she's survived by cannibalizing the other mail-order brides. Once they go feral like that they're no good ad companions.

I didnt know people actually lived on that island. I heard there was some people in New Zealand, but who knew?

Why is it people will respond to a call for penguin sweaters but don't give a damn about childhood poverty?

Penguins don't have access to family planning, education and jobs?

Runs_With_Scissors_: Why is it people will respond to a call for penguin sweaters but don't give a damn about childhood poverty?

In all seriousness, it's because the penguin issue asks for something small, easy, and tangible.

Also it's not reasonable to assume that caring about penguin sweaters and caring about childhood poverty are mutually exclusive.

OMFG I can knit, sort of!

I don't know if I can get knitting needles and yarn by tonight, though.

Making sweaters for penguins is... unbelievably adorable and also totally doable.

did you see the pictures?

Poor kids are all dirty and smell like sour milk. Penguins are SO cute.

I can finger-knit. I hope those penguins are svelte.

Because children turn into people, the little sneaks. Penguins will always be penguins.

Um.... family planning isn't of much help to the children who are already born. Should they skip school and go straight to work?

I know. I'm just being grumpy. Partly because the mods gave the green light and the sweaters aren't needed.

/damn, I sound old.

That is sad and you must hate penguins and me both. Just kidding, but no, my urgency is motivated by wanting to make sweaters for penguins RIGHT NOW.

Just as long as it isn't a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater. Even penguins know that the only legitimate sweater is #9, Maurice Richard.

It's true, a necessary condition of giving a knitting lesson on TinyChat would be liking you and penguins. Since I like neither, no knitting lesson! NONE AT ALL!

actually if you do want to learn to knit I will totally help you out some time. i like you. and penguins. and children.
ok... not children.

That was my first thought. Remember the kid with cancer and the get-well cards? People and pet hair for the BP oil spill? They're already saying they have enough. This ought to help.
