Probably because they don't see her as a threat. Do YOU honestly think Michelle Bachmann has a shot?

In my opinion, it's a weak commercial. If Perry speaks poorly, don't fill your ad with freshman film school editing techniques....just find a good 15 second clip of Perry stumbling....and let his own words speak for themselves.

The people making these attack ads think they are far more clever than they really are.

(If Kerry had had the balls to run a simple ad showing Bush sitting in that stupid classroom reading the stupid goat book juxtaposed with audio from NYFD and NYPD right after the 2nd plane hits, he would have won that election)

Pretty much. There's nothing to say, really, as they're busily chewing, clawing, and stabbing each other. By the time a single Republican candidate surfaces from this mess, Obama will then beat him about the head and shoulders with his mailed fist. That's a very interesting observation. Obviously nobody guilty of such doublethink will understand you, but it's still very true.

If the Republicans believe Obama is the greatest disaster the nation has ever seen (and I'm sure every candidate has said something to that effect--yes, even Fark's Blessed and Beloved Jon Huntsman), then the primary shouldn't be about "Who has the best chance of beating the Obamolith" (everyone does, right?), but "Who among us Republicans would make the best President."

Let's try that, shall we?

But Why The Fark do you think his endorsement will sway middle-aged Jewish women to vote for a lunatic Christian?

That would be a bad strategy. She has a base that will not vote for him. He needs to keep her and Cain both in the game, splitting that base, so that it will not be unified against him.

This last debate, it almost seemed like Cane was going out of his way to give Romney an opening for a KO punch that Romney simply refused to throw. Unless one of the two of them bow out, I don't see Romney attacking either of them seriously.

2011-10-19 08:35:28 PM
I think the deal is that once they are no longer seen as a serious threat the game becomes about picking up their voters - ripping them a new one would only distance voters who were attracted to them. I would imagine the Bachmann support is seen as a died-in-the-wool GOP lunatic fringe - kinda useful because they can be counted on to do whatever they are told (unless they have been moved to turn their hate on you). I mean, I can't see many Bachmann supporters deciding upon her exit that 'oh, the only rational candidate is out so I'll stay at home.' her supporters are particularly stupid and ill-informed, so the easiest way to get them in the bag is probably to give their queen the easiest ride possible

Perry has money though. Enough to put up a fight.

Still, it's Romney's race to lose. He has money, organization everywhere and a decently consistent level of support. Also, many GOP state parties have switched to awarding proportionally instead of winner-takes-all. If the GOP had that system in 2008, Romney would've beat McCain.
