It's sad that the most reasonable on believes in the gold atandard.

Economics fail.

Sanity and intelligence aren't exciting.

Republicans don't want reasonable.

2011-10-19 03:23:33 PM
He's a member of a Republican party that hasn't been in power since the 1970's?

2011-10-19 03:30:41 PM
"Reasonable" is to be avoided at all costs for Republicans. They want someone who will poop in their hands, smear it on their faces and proceed to disembowel the nearest immigrant.

That's why Huntsman is not popular inside the GOP. He's not pandering enough.

2011-10-19 03:41:49 PM
He's running for the general election in the primary. This only works for Democrats.

2011-10-19 03:47:12 PM
Huntsman needs to execute an innocent poor Muslim Mexican gay woman on stage, then he''d be somewhere.

2011-10-19 03:47:24 PM
Because he's not flashy enough?

Why Jon Huntsman, the last reasonable Republican in the US, is losing the primary to an obnoxious pizza slinger with no political experience.

I think I found the problem.

2011-10-19 03:54:13 PM
Because the vast majority of Republicans have gone fkn nuts.

I mean, like, even nuttier than they've been for the past 30 - 40 years.

His economic stances and his unwavering attacks on abortion rights make him just another lunatic.

I get a laugh that the left loves Huntsman in one hand, brags how they would never vote for any republican in the other and cover up for the empty suit in DC in the last.

Having Democrats push Huntsman because they think he is a moderate is like a tea party pushing Joe Lieberman because he is a rational democrat.

A lot of us Democrats are also sometimes Republicans. Hell, I voted for Reagan and for Bush. But both of them were serious, educated men with a record of good decision-making. Not that I agreed with everything they did, but there was nothing about either that made me think they were actually stupid, or that they might start a nuclear war by accident.

Gingrich is the closest thing to an intellectual in the GOP, but he's no longer credible (which wife was he cheating on while he was going after Clinton? number 2? 3? I forget.. but if you'll humiliate your wives that badly, it sets expectations kind of low for future relationships)

Jon Huntsman, the reasonable Republican

Explained in the title.... GOP primary voters by and large are not "reasonable".

John Edwards is not in the tiniest bit credible among Democrats anymore.

I think that was the point.... Gingrich running should be like Edwards running now.

/and for the most part, is.... Gingrich isn't really threatening to win the primary

If he was in a presidential debate last night, I'd consider him a reprehensible jackass too.

I don't really care what party someone is. I don't *need* to vote for a democrat or republican. I just want someone who is competent and not certifiable. The incumbent meets both those criteria so unless there's someone better, I'm happy sticking with what we've got.

Romney would be an okay president, and I think he'd be able to pass single-payer health care, so, come next november, either outcome is fine by me.

Then you are out of your skull. What indication do you have that Romney would even try to pass single-payer?

And I'm sure you've heard that the foreign policy people he is putting together are of the same PNAC idiots that gave us the wonderful Iraq war, right?

Romney would be a friggin disaster.

Reasonable Republicans would vote for Obama. He is essentially a Rockefeller Republican anyway.

John Huntsman + white skin = good

Herman Cain + black skin = bad

Prove me wrong, racists!

coco ebert: Reasonable Republicans would vote for Obama. He is essentially a Rockefeller Republican anyway.

So much this. The man would be a republican if they were not nuts and that is the exact reason they demonize him in the way that they do. If people realized this without the wave of propaganda that started early in his presidency the republican party would have been powerless to do anything this election.

Yes. Obviously the only difference between the two men is the color of their skin. You've cracked the code.

He's no more or less reasonable than any other Republican. In fact, it's pretty standard orthodoxy. But he has a nice smile so he's "reasonable."

I don't see color. I only know Herman Cain is black because Perry called him "brother" several times.

/didn't know Perry was black until last night

So a Democrat wants the race to be between a Democrat and a moderate? I'm shocked.

He's like Ron Paul: Reasonable on about 20% of the issues, batshiat crazy on the other 80%. It's just a different 20%.

That and the fact that he flat out says evolution and global warming are real.

That's a rarity in God's Own Party.

2) Cain takes Palin as VP
3) They pull another Florida
4) Cain steps down, making Palin president

He's not a moderate. He's rather conservative. He's just not from planet Derpvile.

Garet Garrett: So a Democrat wants the race to be between a Democrat and a moderate? I'm shocked.

Democrats want the race to be between two sane people... because eventually one of them is going to win.

I don't understand why the Republicans do not seem to want the same thing.
