While I like the idea, I think some of the imagery is off....

20% Bill (new window, image too large to embed)

The low end of the 20% is around a household income of $90k. That is "wealthy" now?

I thought this fight was overbloated CEO salaries and Wall St. greed.... not poor people pissed off at the middle class?

/obviously the movement is fracturing already.

Printing messages on money is not the best way to reach a large audience of poor people.

Never mind, that was a "net wealth" percentile bill, not an "income" percentile bill.

According to this: Link (new window), Top 20% net wealth low is having around $450k in net worth. Which is still not what I'd say the "fight" really should be "against", I mean, a middle class person nearing retirement could typically have $500k at least in their 401k, so, now they are "wealthy", for saving retirement funds?

Just a little disconcerting that we are somewhat muddying up the term "wealthy".... but, I guess that is all a matter of perspective.

It more likely the middle class is pissed off at the poor. You can thank the Tea Party and their rich string pullers for that.

That wouldn't explain using that graph though.... but, as I pointed out, that was an overall net wealth percentile graph, not an income percentile graph. So, it is not as skewed as I thought.

Screw that. What I do is, I've been sticking $30 in pennies up my ass for the past 11 years.

That's 3,000 pennies a day; 21,000 pennies a week; 1,092,000 pennies a year.

To date that's 12,012,000 pennies, 8 times the population of Nebraska.

You think you're better than me? Oh, you're not better than me. You handle my ass pennies everyday. You pick up my ass pennies for good luck. You throw my ass pennies in fountains and make wishes on them. You give my ass pennies to your little daughter to buy gumballs with.

teahaddists pissed off at the poor? yes esp poor illegals

From what I can tell, the middle class is pissed off at corporate greed and political corruption.

and by the way, class consciousness has gotten me nowhere. I am poor. I didn't think I was that poor. Some people are incredibly rich, so rich I don't know what they do with their dough or how many people they had to screw to get it. I know this, but they're still rich and I'm not.

It raises awareness, which in turn creates more supporters and more popular demand for reform.

There's ways to be useful besides direct action.

We've been mad at them for years, at least since the 80's. When someone who doesn't work has better services than you do, when you work 60 hours a week. My aunt was on Welfare, took a GED, had her college paid for, all books, had the GAS to and from classes paid for, then placed in a $30 an hour job at Stoney Brook (and got her dropout druggie son a $22 an hour job doing laundry there) etc. This was in the late 80s, they have reformed it, but it's still not right,

I believe the complaint is that sometimes it is easier to work less hard and be poor. I am currently paying my tuition with loans while the poor ex-con screw ups get theirs paid for through a "green jobs" program and they also get money for living expenses. I wouldn't care because I think it is important to educate people who can't educate themselves, but these are the people who screw around the most and waste every bodies time.

I thought that was USA poor, as opposed to "I am starving to literal death" poor. Anyway I thought the issue was never supposed to be about poor, it was exclusively about the most extremely rich.

Yea, but it's a pretty strange argument to say that being poor with a criminal record is "easy." No, it's about pointing out the splinter in other people's eyes without regard to any practical economic and social concerns.

The 10% are horrified at our intending to do away with wealth. But in your existing society, wealth is already done away with for nine-tenths of the population; its existence for the few is solely due to its non-existence in the hands of those nine-tenths. You reproach us, therefore, with intending to do away with a form of wealth, the necessary condition for whose existence is the non-existence of any wealth for the immense majority of society.

This sounds made up.
Simply because it's the world we NEED to be living in, and not reality.

Clean someone up, give them food, clothing, a place to live and a bit of spending money. Educate them and have transportation available to them so they can get back into the swing of society.
