This will go Green on the West Coast at about 8:00 local time, so let me ask the Tinsel Town Farkers: don't casting directors usually know this? Or is this some silly publicity thing in which everyone says, "Wow. She sure doesn't look 40! But you know, I bet she's difficult to work with. Next!"

Don't see how this can possibly make it past summary judgement

If accused pedos and murderers can have their names plastered all over the papers for everyone to see, some vain actor biatch shouldn't be allowed to be referred to as "Jane Doe".

I hope the internet finds out exactly who the actress is, so we can all laugh at her.

Jenna Ushkowitz (new window)

Asian American, can't find where she currently lives, but she's dating Kevin McHale, who is from Texas...

Both Glee stars, and that's a rough looking 25!

Considering the point of the suit is that it identified her as over 40, that's a big no.

No it identified her as approaching 40.

I'm thinking Grace Park, from Battlestar Galactica and Hawaii 5-0. Her birthday on the system used to make it look like she was a lot younger, and I think it had her birthday as 1984 or something. But someone on the boards raised a fuss because they graduated the same year as her and even had posted a link to the yearbook photo of her (same school).

But that's just a guess.
Grace Park is hot, especially for 37 years old.

Park isn't really Americanized. It's pretty common Korean family name.
Ushkowitz? She doesn't look Polish or Jewish.

It really depends on whether she's insecure or not. I don't know her. I only know her from the characters she plays, who are a all hot.

Can't think of any other 'semi-B list' asian women nearing 40 though. The link provided indicates that she willingly gave the interviewer her real birthday. So it's probably not her.

If Grace Park's age is listed in numerous places outside of IMDB, then what makes them so special as to get the lawsuit? Shouldn't she then be suing everyone who publishes her age or anything about the conflict with her age?

Plus, she doesn't seem to be an aspiring actress so much as an actual actress. Kinda makes me think this is someone who *needs* attention because they do not have any work in the first place. Right?

/over-thinking it, I know

Did some digging around, and while not 100% sure, I think it may be Jennie Kwan. When I first started digging through actresses, the year of her birth was not listed on her wikipedia page, but since I started, someone has added her age there and credited IMDB as the source. Can't confirm she lives in Texas though.

Some other Asian-American actresses about the right age, but who didn't seem to have a problem with it being posted other places:
Shannyn Sossman
Reiko Aylesworth
Keiko Agena
Christina Chang
Camille Chen

"If one is perceived to be 'over-the-hill,' i.e., approaching 40, it is nearly impossible for an up-and-coming actress, such as the plaintiff, to get work as she is thought to have less of an 'upside,' therefore, casting directors, producers, directors, agents-manager, etc. do not give her the same opportunities, regardless of her appearance or talent."

If you have not "made it" by 40 you never will. People always talk about how many out of work actors there are but the sad truth is nearly all of them suck.

If you have talent you will have work.

I don't believe that, only because there are so many lies in Hollywood...............so sure, lots of people make it at 40; they just don't admit that they are 40. So how can one be sure that 'not making it' by 40 means you never will?

I think it's a shame that the system force people to lie. That goes for that bullshiat about gay men not being great leads, and black and asian men not being great leads, too.

Hey, if 30 year old want to play high schoolers, so what? it's all fantasy.

A 60 year old makes a great teen comedy the 'real' kids all love? awesome, hire them for more work.

John Barrowman wants to get naked for the ladies -- and the dudes? -- no problemo!

Mike Tomlin as the lead in the next Bruckheimer extravaganza? Tyrese getting top billing and the most lines in a Bay film? Why not.

Angelina Jolie playing Brad Pitt's daughter? Let's do this.

If you're still "up-and-coming" in your late thirties, it's time to accept that you'll never be an A-lister. Maybe if you're kind of odd-looking, you can be the next Woman Who Played Agnes DiPesto On Moonlighting.

My point was if you have been "struggling" for decades you are not likely to ever be successful. The truth is casting is the single most difficult (and important) aspect of making a film or play.

Other than that I did not understand anything else you posted.

Also, bonus cockpunch for assuming Hollywood is some kind of meritocracy.
There's both tons of untalented people who have "made it" and even more really talented ones who haven't.

I can understand a woman of a certain age not wanting her age to be made public, but I'm getting really sick of these famous people who lie about their age. For the most part I don't care how old someone is, but I find it really insulting when I see celebrities become younger than me when they used to be older than me (as they get older they start to shave years off of their life). I don't know why, but I find it insulting to see someone who's clearly 10 years older trying to pass for my age. It's also irritating when people get the impression that this is what such and such age looks like based on how old one individual is pretending to be. I don't know why this makes me ragey, but it always has.

After a little googling, I found Candace Kita .

She says she's from Texas. Her bio says she graduated from college with degrees in philosophy and contemporary religion, then post-grad work in sociology before becoming an actress.

Her first major role was on The Masked Rider in 1995, but this site has a credit as a news reporter in 1991.

Her birthday on a few sites is listed as 12/27/1980. The Masked Rider was 1995. So she graduated college and finished her post-grad work at 15?

imdb has no birth date on her bio page.

glitter: Maybe Nicole Bilderback.

Not according to the message posted on the IMBD message boards (completely factual source, I know):

There has been speculation that Nicole Bilderback is the Asian American actress from Texas who is suing amazon.com and imdb. First off- this is an assumption. Yes, I understand why. However, there is more than one Asian actress from Texas. Ms. Bilderback happens to be quite comfortable with being 36 yrs old and embraces women roles in their 30's. But she also still does play mid/late 20's characters too. She's proud to be her age and all the possibilities for her career in the near future.

Nikki (known to her friends as) posted on her personal facebook page to clarify that it's NOT her suing. Thankfully, she has a great sense of humor about it all and even cracked some sarcasm. However, any negative assumptions or allegations with falsley identifying that it's her, could be potentially harmful to her professional career. I wouldn't doubt if her and her reps will make a press release statement to clarify any confusion.

Schafer was legendarily discreet about her age, never even telling Calhern. 1912 was generally given as her birth year for many years, which few believed, yet her actual year of birth (which was not discerned until after her death) of 1900 shocked even her intimate friends. {Wikipedia}

Ladies,

Never be ashamed of your age. You are either young, which is good, or you are mature, which is also good. My g'ma Vista was still a classy dame at 84. It doesn't matter how old you are on paper, what matters is how you carry yourself and if you take care of yourself.

StrikitRich: The article said this actress was 'up and coming,' which means we've never heard of her.

Yeah... up and coming would remove Grace Park from the discussion, although she fit all the other criteria.

On another note... as others have noted, what is the case here? Birthdates are basically "public" info, no? You can request a birth certificate or information on anyone. So, she is going to sue someone for posting true facts? Just goes to show there are more and more republicans in Hollywood every day.
