Makh: Historically, that has been the solution to water problems.

Came here to make this point, moving on.

People used to drink beer all the time because it was safe to drink. Rivers used to be badly polluted, though only with human waste instead of industrial.

That's why the Pilgrims carried beer on the Mayflower.

/Also because it is delicious.

There is a water crisis? Somebody pee in the pool again? The only water crises I ever hear about are in third world countries, and who cares about them unless they have oil or diamonds. Water for diamonds seems pretty fair to me.

I used to be pretty straight edge, but as I grewup and chilled out, I realized that beer is a time honored tradition of humanity and I would be insulting my ancestors' struggle for survival by not be taking part.

Arkanaut: That's why the Pilgrims carried beer on the Mayflower.

No, they did that because their wives were on board.

There's a car that runs on water... but the man won't let it out because he knows that the only thing left to drink would be beer... and beer will set us free

well that turned out disappointing.

mr smart the great: this is no surprise its been around since sail boats people why do you think pirates only drank beer!

They drank rum too.

Anyway, I'm disappointed. I thought it would be something like above. "Don't drink water, drink beer!" All they're doing is using less water to brew. Sort of the opposite of large American breweries adding more water to their beer.

Sounds a lot more feasible than the "giant dehumidifiers". They should hop to it, and get this idea brewing before someone else taps the market.

Not quite. Rivers have been polluted with industrial waste for thousands of years. The stuff used to tan leather, die fabric, make soap, and so forth include some nasty chemicals, and they generally got dumped in the river. In a lot of medieval cities, the tanneries were actually *on* a bridge so they could just dump it out the window.

Also, most of what they called "beer" would make Coor's Light look good. It was very low alcohol content and thin and made from whatever was readily available. Mostly it was just the boiling that killed the germs and made it safe, but they hadn't quite figured that out yet.

Doesn't beer dehydrate you faster?
