Well it doesn't hurt to ask.

2011-10-18 05:19:58 PM
Oh please let that happen, oh please.

I'm ready to watch it burn! Without a spark this is going to be over in 30 days. It need to blow the fark up or just go away.

I'm not sure how much was actually Bank of America's and how much was from their acquisition of Countrywide for $4B in stock back in 2008, but they were stupid for completing the acquisition even after the FBI announced that it was investigating Countrywide for fraud.

I'm sorry, but that was a gamble for them, and it didn't pay off. I don't like covering other people's gambling debts.

How about "no?" Does "no" work for you?

Mmkay. Then how about, "choke on a humongous bucket of burning, rancid livestock dicks floating in kerosene?" Gettin' warmer?

Make no mistake: Banks make money by "investing" the money you give them. Then they make more by charging you access to the money you gave them to hang onto. Then, when they gamble it and lose, they get MORE of your money in the form of taxpayer bailouts that you have no say in the allocation of.

Is it any wonder the entire system is collapsing now that people have woken the f*ck up?

Bank of America doing something stupid? Perish the thought.

They will get the money they want. The politicians will insure it.

I'm about to refinance away from BoA/Countrywide in the next couple days, so I'm getting a kick out of this.

Ever since I started getting robocalls from a company sponsored by BoA, I've felt they're pretty scummy. Not that any bank is that great. ...though unless someone can coordinate an Occupy The Internet movement, we're stuck with picking the lesser of many evils.

2011-10-18 05:42:58 PM
It's time arrest were to be be made. Starting with the board of directors, CEO every single senior president/vice president.

They created an atmosphere of lawlessness and stupidity.

Then People need to be fired-banned from any business dealing in banking and stock/commodity exchanges

The Government should seize the bank- Then break it into different smaller banks-according to the DOT federal banking maps.

Too big to fail. Too big to exist.

countrywide certainly spread enough bribes around to get their way. Not to mention I'll bet they've got plenty of blackmail material on enough members of Congress to dodge whatever badness comes their way.

So what will it take to get more people to switch from B of A? Some are hard headed, stubborn and think none of this will affect them.

No idea - I stopped banking with them 20 years ago. Always been Bank of the Anti-Christ as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think it matters. Look - if we were dealing with people who had any sort of shame or sense of decency then yah, I'd say they'd back it off and not be greedy pigs. But we're talking about prosperity gospel bible thumping True Believers. They don't just think they're entitled to a bailout, they believe it's their duty both as americans AND as christians to take as much money from as many people as is humanly possible.

Not only that but nobody tells them that they're wrong. lose a billion? meh. just get more from the Fed. Nobody tells them its wrong. Nobody stops them. They don't even get fired for it. Sure there are people in the streets waving signs but the really rich guys who run the show never see those protests. the news reports openly mock the protesters anyway right? they're RICH! none of those scummy protesters really account for much...besides, their gospel preaches that god made those people poor for a reason so its all cool.

Just do what the British did. Don't just bail them out. Take ownership of the bank.

Bank gets saved.
All customers keep their money.
Shareholders lose out. But they're the ones who let the bank get into trouble in the first place.
Government gets an asset for its money which, after a few years recovery, can be sold off again and the government gets its money back, and maybe even a profit.

Simple.

2011-10-18 07:35:25 PM
I'd be ok with the government bailing out the BoA...but only if the following conditions were met:

1. every executive officer and member of the BoA board of directors agrees to a jail term of no less than 5 years and no more than 15. suicide is a permissible alternative to a jail term.

2. every executive officer and member of the BoA board of directors agree to forfit any 'golden parachute' or stock options they might have from a bailout. they get nothing.

3. every remaining senior executive gets a free IRS audit, violations of the law will be prosecuted with zealous attention to detail.

Bank of America Corp. (BAC), hit by a credit downgrade last month, has moved derivatives from its Merrill Lynch unit to a subsidiary flush with insured deposits, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation.

The Federal Reserve and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. disagree over the transfers, which are being requested by counterparties, said the people, who asked to remain anonymous because they weren't authorized to speak publicly.

So, uh, socialize the losses and privatize the gains?

Will taxpayers do as well as we did from BoA's first bailout? If so, then yes please. Do it 500 times and we can eliminate the deficit.

/seriously, countrywide might have been the worst acquisition in history. Everything associated with that place turns into shiat.

I dunno Weav. I think the congresscritters are running pretty scared now. Whatever BoA might have on them is nothing compared to what a bunch of unemployed geeks could find. Heck decoding the human genome was much more complex. If we divied up all the districts we could have full dossiers on every elected poli on the hill within days.

Spoil sport. We made it 39 comments in with everyone in the thread furiously denouncing the phantom of submitter sarcasm (not subby, btw).

Look everyone, nihilism is only useful to a point. BofA should be investigated. And THEY WERE. Charges should be filed. From the looks of it, THERE WILL BE. The taxpayers shouldn't be made to pay this bill. And THEY WON'T. In this instance, nobody was bribed and the legal system is slowly grinding forward. Life goes on.

There are enough real problems; we don't have to make up imaginary ones to the point that we're frozen in our disillusionment. You're all smart people, you should be better than this. Ok, maybe not all of you. Weaver95, MaxxLarge and cameroncrazy1984, you guys are smart-ish people, you should be sort of better than this. Maybe. Please?

GoldSpider: Why anyone would choose to do business with BOA at this point is quite beyond me.

I intend to close my account with them in the next 2-3 weeks. I'm opening an account with a local bank with free checking (with interest!) as soon as I get this check in the mail I'm expecting, and then moving my money from there. I've been a loyal customer for 10 years, but enough is enough.

does no one in the federal government have the balls to charge these MFer's with fraud? This is why the revolution is coming!
