It's not her fault, if you think about it. "Fat, mouthy, pushy broad" just isn't that funny and her manager said it was.

Her show was only fantastic if you happened to be a complete idiot. Thankfully for her, America is packed to the brim with them.

The best thing Rosie O'Donnell ever did was make people forget why she's famous in the first place. The only reason anybody knows her name is because she was one of Madonna's entourage. When Madonna was flirting with lesbianism, Rosie was her butch dyke counterpart and she has never really outgrew that image, even as she got her own sort of career and pissed it away by being herself.

Nah, the View chick is simply a f*cking moron. Rosie went out of her way to be horribly grating and more than a little hypocritical. Among the many other crimes against humanity committed simply by being on TV.

You have to wonder why someone with the media savvy of Oprah Winfrey would give Rosie O'Donnell a show. I can think of few people who would create a sucking black hole of ratings more efficiently than that loud mouthed moron.

Except she cannot help but be herself, and that killed her show. Then she went on The View, where she could not only be herself but she had to yell to be heard, and she was even worse..

People are stupid. But they typically do not want to watch a raging biatch unless said biatch is incredibly hot, which disqualifies Rosie.

Came for the Roseanne Barr reference, leaving satisfied.

She pretty much had to retire the "Queen of Nice" facade after the Tom Selleck interview. (The unfortunate members of her crew knew the real Rosie "liars get cancer" O'Donnell.) Columbine sent her into a deep depression and she started showing her true "mannish, angry lesbian" persona. That's when she easily alienated a large chunk of her viewers with her rants about gun control. It would have been all good if she had approached it with a rational level-head. Instead, she ambushed Selleck and stated she thought all gun owners should be in jail. Well, every gun owner except for her children's personal bodyguard. That person needs a gun. But not everybody else.

I have never been a Rosie fan, but one thing she did I thought was awesome: After 9/11 she criticized the celebrities that were going on the air in the various telethons, basically saying that these rich people shouldn't be going on TV and asking people with less money to send in donations. She said they should shut up and make a donation out of their own fortune. She then made a very large donation herself ($1 Million IIRC) and then said nothing more about it for a while.

2011-10-18 07:56:36 PM
Here is the video for the Tom Selleck interview. Hadn't seen it in a while. What really adds to the trainwreck is that she is absolutely clueless she's being. She has her sycophantic studio audience backing her up, which of course encouraged her to continue with that ambush. She had no idea how many people at home were switching her show off for godd. Tom is trying to politely answer her questions but it's clear from her agressiveness that what she's doing in her mind is placing the NRA on the witness stand, pointing her finger, and shouting "j'accuse!!!" And since she knew that she'd never have gotten Charlton Heston or Wayne La Pierre to appear on her show, Tom Selleck (who only wanted to promote some rom com that was opening against Star Wars) had to do.

2011-10-18 07:59:24 PM
My vote would be Star Jones. But ya, Rosie would be second.

Forgot about that.

In Rosie's world....

When Kelly Ripa objected to Clay Aiken putting his hand over her mouth = 'HOMOPHOBE!!! HOMOPHOBE!!! KELLY RIPA WOULD NOT HAVE SAID THAT IF CLAY AIKEN WAS STRAIGHT, THAT HOMOPHOBIC HOMOPHOBE!!!"

When Asians got offended by the "ching chong" remark = "I didn't realize that was something Asian could be insulted over. Okay, I'm sorry if you were offended, but that's just how I am."

Are these the same viewers that tuned daily into The Rosie O'Donnell Show a week after the 9-11 attacks? Fark these people. Rosie was there LIVE in NYC doing the city and the rest of the country a good deal of help by talking and crying and trying to move on.

And this was after Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson blamed the attacks on her and the rest of the queers in America.

Rosie--along with Dave and Conan--get a lifetime pass for what they did after the attacks.

I think it's perfectly alright for someone to get pissed when someone they don't know touches their mouth uninvited. Just because he's a celebrity doesn't mean he has good hygiene habits. Granted, I would as a general rule trust a gay guy to have better hygiene than a straight one but that's stereotyping too. But who knows if he washed that hand the last time he used the rest room.

This. I may not have tuned in regularly, but what I DO remember is her raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charities on her show, even BEFORE 9/11.

What? There are other obese woman who do acting besides O'Donnell? Anyway, she was quite funny despite looking Rosie-esque.

It didn't kill his career - it merely put it on ice for a couple of decades.

Elbarfo: Rosie is pretty much the worst anything of all time.

Ultimately, I wouldn't go that far. Yeah, Rosie for a long time has been obnoxious on almost every conceivable level. But from 1992 to 1999, I genuinely liked her, even if she did a lot of crap movies. I agree with a lot of her politics, which is why I wished she'd have gone about arguing for them in a different way. And as far her being a truther, I pity her like I do all the truthers. So I don't hate her. She makes me think of that Blackadder line about Nursie being "a sad, insane woman with an udder fixation".

That just about entirely sums up Rosie O'Donnell for me. A sad, insane woman with an udder.

I'll give you that.

Chevy's show, as others noted above, was a WRECK.
