HIMYM hasn't been good for a couple seasons now... minus a brilliant episode here and there.
...never liked Big Bang...

The one episode of Suits that I saw looked intriguing... want to get into Breaking Bad.

I am curious about this Community, mostly because I've never even head of it.

I'm not too lazy the stupid friggin site first directs me to its useless app then forgets what I was looking for.

Brother_Mouzone: Louie is unbelievable. I cant even explain it. and each episode makes me sit there with my mouth agape. I just saw the one with the Jesus story and just sat there in awe. And there was nothing "funny" about it.

also, Breaking Bad rules.

Agreed on Louie. I also like Wilfred. It makes me think, too. It makes me think I don't know what to think.

I'm glad I didn't have any liquids in my mouth when I got to number 2.

And Louie is unbelievably unfunny.

2011-10-18 03:19:31 PM
Big Bang Theory would count if they didn't get their physics jokes wrong.

2011-10-18 03:26:04 PM
WTF is wrong with you people? Louie is the funniest show on TV right now. I guess if there isn't a laugh track involved some people just can't quite get it.

Community's been a lot better this season than last, though the paintball episodes are classic. Need to find something to go back and watch season one.

The-Brain: The one episode of Suits that I saw looked intriguing

Suits is an awesome show, but they rely a little too heavily on humanizing the bad/good guy who is the main lawyer, Harvey.

The-Brain: I am curious about this Community, mostly because I've never even head of it.

I generally don't like sitcoms at all, and I go out of my way to see this one.

I like it a lot.

/Also, Big Bang Theory sucks.

2011-10-18 03:51:37 PM
The "Remedial Chaos Theory", "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons", "Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design", and "Modern Warfare" episodes of Community (in particular) are excellent, but it's a great show overall, especially if you're familiar with the standard TV Tropes.

2011-10-18 03:55:05 PM
The last episode of Community was maybe the best 22 minutes of comedic television I've ever seen, plus things like this (new window) and this (new window) and, of course, this (new window) make it all that much better.

Monday Night Football should not be included with your list of crappy shows.

Absent from the list:

Boardwalk Empire

This. Community is awesome. Last week's episode, Remedial Chaos Theory, was hilarious. I need to get a hold of season 1, I missed most of it...

The Big Bang Theory is to nerds as (insert inappropriate racism analogy here). There's nothing funny or realistically observational about it.

Needs more Doctor Who. Especially after these past two seasons.

Is it dumb that what bothers me is that no one I know that works at either CalTech or JPL dresses like that?

Seriously -- I am driving my husband crazy because I have yet to watch any of "Boardwalk Empire" (not my fault "Dexter" is a better show, and now "The Walking Dead" is back) and am two episodes behind on "Sons of Anarchy." Between those 4 and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", and until it ended, "Breaking Bad" -- there are just too many shows that I like right now. Then January will hit and there will be nothing but "Shameless" on and I'll start REALLY hankering for "True Blood" to come back.

2011-10-18 04:37:17 PM
Timeline #1 had me roaring with laughter in "Remedial Chaos Theory".

2011-10-18 04:38:09 PM
Terrible list. These shows only make me think that I need to turn the TV and do something else.

2011-10-18 04:39:12 PM
Except for MNF, they only thing these shows make me think is "Why am I watching this sh*t?"

2011-10-18 04:40:31 PM
More "Louie" love here.

That show is almost perfect. Some are hilarious and some just depress the hell out of you, but there is no doubt they are brilliant.

I kinda lost track of TV this season... Last season I followed House, Dexter, It's always sunny, SOA and watched a few more shows once they season ended and I'd get all episodes and do a marathon of it. This season I've seen 2 episodes of SOA and that's it. I have been playing a whole lot more PS3 though.

Do me a favor everyone and turn on Fringe on Friday nights even if you don't watch it. I don't want it to be cancelled. Thanks.

What little I saw of Big Bang Theory largely consisted of them trying to cram science terms into the jokes so people can laugh at the nerds. Was my impression wrong? Or did it actually require higher brain functions to watch, now?

It's not wrong. TBBT is a terrible sitcom.

I have a theory that people watch it, or claim to watch it so they can claim to be smart to their friends because they watch the "smart people TV."

Not unlike how some people watch (or at least turn on PBS) so they will seem more sophisticated than they really are.

I knew that would be confusing as soon as I posted it. Darkest timeline happened when Jeff rolled a 1 (which is appropriate), so we're talking about the same timeline. The final segment with the survivors sitting in the library was just the icing on the cake.

My favorite episode of Community is "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons." I absolutely love how the show can geek out fully (on whatever the subject is that week, be it AD&D, Model U.N., or bottle episodes) and still manage to discover meaningful things about its characters.

It's such a farking amazing show.

/I watch 7 of the 10 of the listed shows.
//of the 3 remaining, one is Breaking Bad (which I have simply not made the time for, though I know I need to) and the other two are Big Bang Theory and HIMYM (both of which I have seen a couple episodes of and both of which I find stupid and overrated).

I LOVE Louie but I wouldn't call it the funniest show on TV. Some episodes aren't funny at all. But they're still good.
