You break into someone's house. You throw a massive kegger and wreck the place. A whole bunch of uninvited people crash the party and trash it even further. When it's all over, you sit there and lecture the homeowners on how to clean up the disaster you wrought.

And now Bachmann wants them to pay you for all those nice things you did.

The gall is absolutely stunning.

Could she be any derpier?

2011-10-18 11:52:42 AM
She's tapping into the "Anger At Brown People" vote that is so important to the republican primary.

2011-10-18 11:53:05 AM
Wait, I though the Iraq war would pay for itself. Are suggesting that Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush lied to people about it?

2011-10-18 11:54:52 AM
Afghanistan IS paying us back.

with heroin!

Wait until she finds out what a gallon of gas costs in Iraq.

Ideally she'll run for office there.

I'm sure they have plenty of rocks to give us. We should take their rocks.

"We should be getting paid back for these countries that we liberated,"

Derp on so many levels.

Might as well have said, "I don't understand how fungible oil markets work, and I don't understand the issues with the neoconservative push on Iraq."

Good god, Neocons had been jonesing to overthrow Saddam, especially when Bush I refused to. Neocons went against big oil on Saddam. Groups like Exxon were actually lobbying hard to trade with Saddam, and Saddam wanted to trade. Neocons wanted to depress oil prices to hurt OPEC.
More Info here
You'd figure with the hindsight that we have now, where the Chinese are all over Iraq, and how countries like China have moved from a exporter to consuming more than Iraqs oil production, that this crap would have died a slow, horrible death. Someone point out the Chuck Testa holding this up.

To get the US govt paid for it beyond the war expenses - or even to cover them in totality, you'd have to impose some sort of neocolonial system, tax, whatever on it. Good luck with that.
If you were concerned with depleting reserves, why ramp up Asian consumption and consumption in developing countries with outsourcing, cheap US food exports, etc.?

Derp on so many levels.

That always goes as planned. Germany paid off her WW1 reparations without a hitch, I do believe.

2011-10-18 12:06:25 PM
And Americans wonder why the world hates us. They hate us because we are farking entitled assholes who will step over the bodies of civilians we helped slaughter in order to deliver a bill.

Die in a fire, you coont.

i mean, she's right - we should be able to loot the countries we conquer. what other reason is there to engage in an unprovoked war of conquest?

She really ought to hang out with Trump more often. There are some real gems in there. I don't know which part is better, the one where Trump takes credit for getting Obama to show his long form birth certificate and then says there are still questions there or when Bachmann said, "Iraq spit on us, they spit on us by saying we're not going to give immunity to the 5,000 troops staying in Iraq."

I'm sure there are tens of thousands of Iraqi mothers with dead sons or daughters who would love to pay you back, Michelle.

I hope she doesn't let Marcus do the negotiating, because then all we'll get is thousands of teenaged Iraqi boys dressed like Aladdin.

I am sure they will be happy to give us money, seeing how they are so thankful and welcome us as great liberators. They can start throwing dollar bills along with the flowers they throw at the feet of their benevolent and kind liberators! It makes perfect sense.

Oh no, they were quite happy to pay it. They even brought in an Austrian consultant to help arrange proper payments. Everyone came out a winner.

Because Herman Cain isn't the GOP leader right now.

I'm aware of that. He's the new Perry, who was the new Bachmann.

Anyway, how does this statement prove your original point, again?

Cain is just as pants on head retarded as Bachmann is.

Which one isn't crazy? Who's left when all the crazies are weeded out? Mitt Romney? It's been quite a while since I've seen a bigger lair, two-faced, duplicitous, flip-floppy, career politician than him. Shortly after the OWS movement started, he was saying good things about them in a campaign speech in New England, a week later in a red state, he was verbally bashing them. And that's just one example. Abortion, gay rights, health care.. he's the flippy floppenist flip flopper I've ever seen.

Oh, I know. I think the only way he could be more two-faced is if he actually dressed in a Two-Face from Batman costume. But he's not completely batshiat crazy in the way Bachmann, Perry, or Cain are. I think Romney would make a horrible President in every way possible, but he's just a pathetic stereotypical politician. I don't think any of them are a good choice, but I can't actually call him borderline clinically insane like some of the other candidates.

Maybe someone sane will step up to the plate at some point, but I don't think so.

I would like to see a race between two sane candidates (altho it would take quite a lot for me to vote Republican) but I just don't think it will happen. I do wonder just how much money is still out there if someone new wanted to step in. It seems that every time a crazy candidate steps up the people throw tons of money at them until they self-destruct. Got to think that for a lot of people that well is running dry.

They're largely supported by large donations from corporations and millionaires. Since Republicans have their interests in mind, I don't think the well will ever run dry.

My favorite part about that is afterwards some U.S. soldier tried to hang a U.S. flag on it until someone had the common sense to say "uhhh....might wanna hang an iraqi flag on it before these people decide to murder us"

I laughed so hard when Colbert referred to "The years between 1939 and 1945, when Germany insisted on delivering its payment in person" with the chart of Nazi troop movements.

And this isn't even the dumbest farking thing she's ever said. How do you feel, Republicans, knowing that this is one of the very few people trying to win the presidency on your side? How does it feel to know that this shiat stain is one of YOUR cadidates?

In other words "we invaded these countries, so where the Hell is our plunder?"

2011-10-18 03:17:17 PM
FTFA: On the wide-ranging call, Bachmann and Trump lamented that the American troops are being "kicked out" of Iraq.

"Iraq spit on us, they spit on us by saying we're not going to give immunity to the 5,000 troops staying in Iraq," Bachmann said during a telephone town hall with Trump, referring to Iraqi opposition to amending an agreement that calls for American troops to leave the country later this year. "What this shows is complete disrespect for the United States."

Bachmann also picked up on a Trump talking point by saying America should get reimbursed for its recent foreign entanglements.

"We should be getting paid back for these countries that we liberated," she said.

I'm surprised her handlers haven't taken her aside and explained to her that we INVADED Iraq on the false premise that there were WMDs there. The "liberation" she's touting was a side effect of the war -- not the purpose of it. Iraq didn't invite us to come in and unseat Saddam Hussein, and they sure as hell didn't invite us in there to wreak havoc, death, and destruction and destabilize the country the way we did.

Can we switch off this woman now? If we ignore her long enough, maybe she'll just go away.
