I see that the bar for autogreenlight has been raised from "embarrassing typo" to "incomprehensible gibberish."

2011-10-18 12:13:12 PM
good thing bailing out wallstreet didn't cost any taxpayer money, otherwise the tea partiers would look might stupid here

In before someone posts the quizzical dog.jpg in reference to those last few words (which will probably get changed by the moderators at some point).

The Grammar Nazi didn't get around to editing that headline huh?

FTFA: ["]we don't have the money for this as taxpayers, a lot of people are out of work.["]

So let's push out the people protesting the dire system that has left us out of work.

Glad it wasn't just me, I read the headline 3 times. First 2 I was somewhat confused, 3rd time I was trying to see if I was missing a joke.

Quick!!! Let's form a protest to the Tea Party's protest.

Jay: It's a Miramax flick. We gotta bust up some people who were calling us names on the internet, even thought they're not really talking about us but characters based on us, and at the same time find my ex-girlfriend-who-was-killed-by-a-car-explosion's monkey.

Pumpkin Escobar: Man... I don't know what the fark you just said, Little Kid, but you're special man, you reached out, and you touch a brother's heart.

As I recall the British government was pretty pissed off about how much the original tea party cost. So much so that they ordered the Port of Boston closed until full restitution was made.

I guess the Tea Partiers are now Tories?

Why should the city spend hundreds of thousands of dollars just because a bunch of smelly dirtbags want to camp out?

2011-10-18 12:17:45 PM
Teabaggers: We can't get jobs! Where are the jobs?!

Media: "Look at these brave patriots."

OWS: We can't get jobs! Where are the jobs?!

Media: OMG GO GET A JOB AMERICA HATER

2011-10-18 12:17:56 PM
Maybe it just called to say "I love you?"

Trickle down.

I say both side should settle their grievances with a spelling bee.

2011-10-18 12:19:53 PM
Yo dawg, I heard you like protests.

2011-10-18 12:20:29 PM
I just like to think that the money being spent on keeping the occupiers from going apeshiat is money that otherwise doesn't have to be spent dealing with the petty crime they would otherwise be committing in the rest of the city. Recent numbers from my ass show that loitering, marijuana smoking, and public intoxication are all down by over 30% the last several weeks, and noise complaints due to shiatty music coming out of hipster basements is down by a stunning 65%.

I don't know. Why do most cities spend more than that just to get Wal Mart to build a store in their town and hire people for poverty level wages and no benefits?

2011-10-18 12:25:09 PM
Well, it took seven million dollars to clean all of the painters tape and fliers out of the Capitol in Madison. They might have a point.

Good point. Unless they're doing something illegal the city can just let them camp out on public property and exercise their first amendment rights. No need to spend money on them.

The article doesn't specify what the costs are, but based on other instances I'd guess it police overtime. Not needed.

that's 7 million dollars worth of job creation and employment right there. Why do they hate America?

"No word on how much money the Philadelphia Tea Party protest called taxpayers money"

Most of it, I think.

2011-10-18 12:28:36 PM
So the lesson here is to make sure your protest doesn't cost anything or inconvenience anyone. I'm sure that will be a very effective protest... No doubt the powers that be will submit to the demands of the protest that costs the protesters time and money but doesn't impact anyone else in the slightest...

2011-10-18 12:28:43 PM
Why would the Tea Party protest against other protestors who want the same thing?

We wouldn't need to increase taxes if we hadn't bailed out giant corporations and our financial sector, because the top 1% ran it into the ground.

Hell it doesn't even hint at the source of these "costs". How come we aren't hearing about how much OWS is costing NY (or any other city)? What constitutes this cost? Police?

ooook then.

Right, but it's 7M$ of police and sanitation work. I.e. 7M$ of union jobs. And as we all know, union jobs are unamerican.

Because they're on the other side. The Tea Party is a Republican rally group. The OWS protestors aren't explicitly Republican so they must be the enemy.

TFA: The bill to city taxpayers in the first week alone for Occupy Philly was $230,000 and it is growing by the hour, with $33,000 a day just in police overtime.

Just a thought, but couldn't you do without a ridiculous and unnecessary police presence?

Perfect. My 4-year-old son loves to recite that bit.

So, the Tea Party is afraid of someone stealing their schtick.

2011-10-18 12:38:06 PM
I'm confused, wasn't part of the Tea Party platform "Main Street, not Wall Street" and a general condemnation of, among other things, the Bailout?

Shouldn't the Tea Party people be protesting alongside the OWS people?

If the average teabagger wasn't clinically retarded, they might be doing just that.

"Parsons was Winston's fellow employee at the Ministry of Truth. He was a fattish but active man of paralyzing stupidity, a mass of imbecile enthusiasms - one of those completely unquestioning, devoted drudges on whom, more even than on the thought police, the stability of the Party depended."

It seems like the TPP just stopped caring about the things they allegedly cared about the second they got a few Republicans elected to the House.

Weird.
