I know it's all the rage these days to criticize JJ for his abuse of lens flares in Star Trek, but that's just a drop in the bucket.

His real crime is creating projects with hundreds of subplots that see any resolution and completely distract from the main story.

I went to the eye doctor yesterday and driving home with semi-dilated eyes it felt like I was in the latest Star Trek movie. Lens flare everywhere.

I'm amazed that people are so oblivious to the actual CONTENT of some criticisms. What, pray tell, gave you the slightest clue that I hate anything about JJ's films simply because they are popular?

Did you miss the part where I said it was about the lens flare? Do you not understand that perhaps some of us actually find it PAINFUL to watch that much bright light being shined directly in to our faces?

HIs point was that if you're so hung up on "lens flare" your real issue is that you simply are a contrarian. It's minor and it's a special effect. Who cares other than haters? No one.

They actually DO, asshole. As does 3-d. Does it make me throw up? No, but it makes me feel like I'm going to. This ACTUALLY HAPPENS. My "scientific basis" comes from observation and experience.

I didn't even notice the lens flares in the last ST movie until the whiny pussies started flapping their labia about them. From what I can tell they're mostly butthurt "trekkies" who just cannot stand that now there's something Star Trek-related that even non-trekkies like, so they look for any minor criticism they can find and blow it way out of proportion. Grow the hell up and leave the basement every now and then.

they do affect some folks in that way yes. Two people vomitted during the screening of "Cloverfield" I attended...and I doubt it was due to the plot holes or cloying interpersonal "drama" of the hipster yuppie larva protagonists.

anyways... I'd be inteterested to see what direction they take a Micronauts film... would they use the old Marvel run, or with the DDP arc by Scott Wherle? maybe a bit of both?

I really enjoyed Wherles take on the universe...even if only short lived.

CSB time: My Mom bought Force Commander + Oberon for me and Baron Karza + Andromeda for my little brother so we'd have dueling centaurs to play with. My brother who must have been 4 or 5 at the time never made it home with Andromeda. Presumably having tossed it out the back window of our Buick, thus inspiring the implementation of the "No opening toys in the car on the way home" rule that remained in place until we outgrew action figures.

Just in case you're wondering, I'm simply laughing at you. The idea of snowflakes whose eyes hurt from 3D, lense flares, and shaky cams is simply to pathetic not to mock.

I mean, if you're that physically weak, why are you even going to those movies?

Again, you're simply a contrarian with anger issues. You're a pussy therefore anyone who isn't is wrong and everything should be adapted for your physical imparity. Pathetic. Do yourself a favor and vote with your dollar and keep your pedantic criticisms out of here.

Toys came first. Hasbro commissioned Marvel to create the original story.
