But I did see this story in the news. That mother is a flake, but it's not immediately apparent to me that she killed the child, like it was with Susan Smith.

It sounds like there was a delay over these tracking dogs. But I'm not sure.

If you're guilty, I can see why you might not want tracking dogs in your house. But if you're innocent, I'd think you would want tracking dogs and any other help you can get, and you would want it right away, pronto, NOW!

It sounds like Mom mixed her Xanex with box wine. I had a friend mix Xanex with two beers once and lost a good part of an evening. We had went to a comedy club and he was with us in body but spaced out and in his own little world. The odds are that Baby Lisa died somehow at the hands of a Mom that accidentally mixed her meds. Since this happened in Clay County, she needs a good lawyer. Clay County has a harsh judicial system that would look beyond an awful mistake that resulted in manslaughter and try to have her put to sleep.

I think it's unlikely a 10 month old toddled very far out the front door. Especially a 10 month old that weighs more than your average 2 year old.

Yeah, this one had me puzzled. Susan Smith was pretty damn obviously guilty; she sucks at the fake-cry. This one, though, I don't know. She changed her story only after it was pointed out to her that no farking way does a mother of an infant sleep through a break-in during which all the lights in the home are turned on (what burglar does that??) the dog is barking, a baby monitor on and in the room, etc...

I don't know why people don't get that. You don't have to be actually guilty of something to be charged, tried and even convicted of it.

I want to know why the other kids didn't wake up. However, my kids have slept through smoke detector malfunctions. My oldest daughter does not remember the dog barking at her when she try to sleep walk down the stairs. It was a mean but protective bark that sent us running - she had no clue. :-/ So It is not surprising the kids might sleep through.

I agree, they didn't think that through. I'm guessing he saw the media circus and offered his services pro-bono and they jumped at the chance, maybe without even realizing who he is. I still have a bad feeling that one or both of them are involved but it's only smart to lawyer up in this situation.

Being drunk to the point of blacking out when you have a 10 month old baby, puts the baby in a huge amount of danger. You can fall down stairs, you can just plain fall down anywhere, you can zonk out with the baby and wake up lying on top of her. There are dozens of ways you can harm a baby from some combination of clumsiness, sleepiness, and lack of judgment. It's hard enough being sober on 3 hours of sleep.

So If she didn't kill the kid, she easily could have.

If given the chance, I would also refuse a polygraph test. Of course refusal of the test looks bad, but the results are useless anyway since the results can't be used in court.

There is no doubt this could happen. However, she would have to be pretty sober to hide the body so it hasn't be found.

Why weren't the dogs brought in sooner? Even if they wouldn't have let them in the house couldn't they use other items to smell for the baby? Or cadaver dogs?

This mom is the friend of a friend, and my friend is positive there is no chance that the mom had anything to do with it. I think that they should have lawyered up a lot sooner, as their openness with the public through interviews etc has done nothing but get twisted around on them and made them look bad.

Lesson one of being a victim in a high profile crime: get a person to handle PR, or you'll be convicted in the eyes of the public.
