I thought a group of zombies was called a plague.

Nice advertisement. I think I'll check out both places next week.

I'd pick the witches. They can do a spell and turn all the zombies into dust or something. Zombie dust?

This isn't a two-haunted-house mall, and Halloween is make-or-break.

Are there any two-haunted-house malls?

as a plus, you can kill them both with fire.

Burn the witches at the stake, charge the zombies for a cooked meal.

I was in Salem on the weekend of October 1st, it was a fun time, but also a total clusterfark. There were at least 6 haunted houses within a 4 block area. There were also ghost tours, I counted 5 of them. They all visit the exact same locations at roughly the same times and then shout over each other.

Some of the guides pull a portable PA system behind them in a wagon so they can be louder than adjacent tours (I found that to be obnoxious).

There is also a segment of the town that really hates the tourists that show up in October. During the tours that I took people drove by screaming insults at the tourists. I thought that was hysterical, because you just KNOW that everyone in Salem has had to suffer at least 1 October working at part of the tourism industry...

I grew up in Salem so I'm getting a kick, etc....

Just like in any town, you'll find your jackasses. Yeah, it's a little tough to drive around town in October, but that's the price they pay for the city's income. After the Parker Brothers and Sylvania plants closed 20-25 years ago, the city made a conscientious effort to focus on the witch trial and Halloween tourism as its main industry. Generally has worked out ok, but as you found there are always those types of people wherever you go.

Reminds me, I'm actually driving into Salem this evening for a different reason, mental note to leave extra time for traffic....

If the zombies had any brains they'd leave the witches alone.

I just drove to my house in Salem through the shiatty ass Salrm tourism traffic. Salem is a waste of tourist time and money. The actual trials happened in neighboring towns that were once a part of Salem. Move along folks. Nothing to see here except for tourist traps.

/nothing beats halloween night in Salem

I wonder how this wasn't Situation Normal on the capitol mall, then noticed it's not Salem, Oregon.

I was just there this weekend. The competing Witch Mansion was much easier to find than the Nightmare Factory (mall one) and had a really cool 3-D section, dorky glasses and all. The N.F. was better in other respects.

Hosalabad & I agreed: One was not better than the other. Neither lasted long enough. In combo, they were great!

I'd love to see that!! Unfortunately, I'm pretty far away to be a tourist in Salem. I still tremble walking through haunted houses but I have THE biggest smile on my face while doing so. Then again, my first babysitter I remember liked to watch scary movies with me when I was about 3-4 years old. Then when I was older my parents and their friends would do their own haunted hayride/Halloween shindig out in the country. And while most haunted places have a no grabbing policy, its different when all the creeps know your parents. My current boyfriend took me on our first date to a haunted house. We'll be together 2 years next week.

So guys, take your new ladies to a haunted house, guaranteed she will be grabbing all over you. :)

As for witches vs. zombies, Witches can fly and have some pretty great skills. Though if a witch is zombified, I'd think that the time-consuming hunger for brains would render her or him unable to cast spells. Can't witch-ify a zombie though. Witches do have the ability to organize during the day, but there's the possibility of infighting and jocking for top witch; zombies have no hierarchy to maintain. So I think I'm going to have to go with zombies, just by sheer numbers and their ability to convert more zombies.

It's called "Turn Undead", and I think you need a cleric. You CAN find Wiccan clerics but they're always a pain to travel with as they're asking questions like "Does this robe make me look fat," and "Is there a vegan alternative?"
