So, they gave up two points instead of 7? Doesn't sound like a fail to me.

Also, the QB's "knee-jerk" error probably saved him from 300 lbs. of lineman jerking his knee and subsequent physical therapy.

Forget about the game - it was last week. Focus on this week

I would just like to be known as "that guy". The guy that points out the starting quarterback for a college team is TWENTY EIGHT YEARS OLD and that somehow this is fair. Yes I'm biatching. I'm biatching because college QBs should be younger than the pros.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Weeden
Brandon Weeden (born October 14, 1983)

At age 28 Weeden is older than 14 quarter backs who started for an NFL team in week 1 of the 2011 season. (wiki)

I don't care about baseball arm injuries, this guy shouldn't have been allowed to QB a major college at his age. (Granted, I won't bet against him when I'm in Vegas this fall/winter/bowl season..... age/experience kills raw athleticism....)

Compare and contrast to the bios of the top 18 starting quarterbacks (minus P. Manning for obvious reasons) according to preseason fantasy projections...

Aaron Charles Rodgers (born December 2, 1983)
Andrew Christopher Brees (pronounced /ˈbriːs/;[1] born January 15, 1979)
Michael Dwayne Vick (born June 26, 1980)
Thomas Edward Patrick "Tom" Brady, Jr. (born August 3, 1977)
Philip G. Rivers (born December 8, 1981)
Antonio Ramiro "Tony" Romo (born April 21, 1980)
Benjamin Todd "Ben" Roethlisberger (pronounced /ˈrɒθlɨsbɜrɡər/; born March 2, 1982),
Matthew Thomas "Matt" Ryan (born May 17, 1985)
Joshua Tyler "Josh" Freeman (born January 13, 1988)
Matthew Rutledge Schaub (born June 25, 1981)
Joseph Vincent "Joe" Flacco (born January 16, 1985)
John Matthew Stafford (born February 7, 1988)
Eli Nelson Manning[1] born Elisha Nelson Manning on January 3, 1981)
Samuel Jacob "Sam" Bradford (born November 8, 1987)
Jay Christopher Cutler (born April 29, 1983)
Matthew Brennan "Matt" Cassel (born May 17, 1982, Northridge, California)
Samuel Jacob "Sam" Bradford (born November 8, 1987)
Mark Travis John Sanchez (born November 11, 1986)

Don't bet against him in college (he's older than some of his asst. coaches), don't bet for him if he gets drafted. Period.

2011-10-18 07:26:43 AM
Most people don't give a fark if he's 28. He's playing for free.
It seems like Kansas State had an old basketball player years ago who went on to do good in the pros.

He goes to college there and he's representing his school. Isn't that essentially college football?

LeBron has been hinting at the NFL during the lockout; he could essentially go play for a college team. He wouldn't get paid, but he could.

Cajnik: LeBron has been hinting at the NFL during the lockout; he could essentially go play for a college team. He wouldn't get paid, but he could.

No, he has an agent and has been paid for endorsements. I'm pretty sure he's lost NCAA eligibility for any sport.

Meh, if Texas was worth a half a shiat, they would have turned it into 9 points on OSU's not-so-good defense.

Play was over when he stepped out of the back of the end zone. Anything that happened afterwards...didn't happen. Next thing you know, subby is going to advocate a fumble out of bounds as being a live ball.

BTW, FSU used to have a mid-20s QB of their own. Remember Chris Weinke? He was 25 when he started for the 'Noles.

Almost every blooper out there has already been done by the Lions. If you look long enough, there's probably video of somebody pulling the ball off the tee as Doak Walker is kicking off. It's where Charles Schultz came up with the idea.

While your comment is correct, pretty sure that picture is of Christian Ponder. It is definitely not Chris Weinke.

When the Bangles draft him it will be because "he's a QB that puts points on the board in any situation."

How is it not fair? You don't magically gain football experience simply by being older - you gain it by playing football at a high level, which he obviously hasn't done more than anyone else in college.

He still can have eligibility in sports other than basketball. He would have to drop all his endorsement deals and fire his agent, but he could play football, tennis, swim, or whatever.

So, by that logic, the NCAA should ban all 5th year senior QBs because some guys go to the NFL after their junior seasons?

IANAL, but I'm fairly certain you're wrong. The fact he had an agent means he has no eligibility for any NCAA sport, same with his endorsements. If LeBron is saying this he is just blowing hot air. Playing any amateur sport now would be the stupidest thing possible for him. If he blows a knee his career is over. Is it worth it? No, he's just being an AW. Honestly playing overseas is almost as bad for players that do it (superstars at least), because the risk is much higher than the reward.

I think you're right, if only because Colorado had an Olympic skier at one point who was ruled ineligible to play football because he had one or two endorsements as a member of the U.S. Ski Team.

If you think about it and wanted to get inside the head of an opposing team, this is exactly what I'd do in this field position.

Have the QB step back out of the end zone and throw an interception for a touchdown.

We got a touchdown!!!!. We got a touchdown !!!!
No you didn't , you got 2 points and the other team gets a free kick.
