Sell it now for one million dollars, and buy it back on the cheap after the tea party inevitably implodes. Sounds like excellent business sense.

What's wrong with selling out?

And quite boot-strappy, too.

I'm an Australian in my 30s, so I actually remember who The Tea Party were. They did the right thing- let the American nutbars have an appropriate presence on the Internet, and gouge them for it.

2011-10-18 04:48:39 AM
I'm okay with this. That's 1 million less they have to spend on fabricating the usual bullshiat.

Fear not fellow liberals. Obama will soon continue retaining power through the tacitly endorsed Occupy movements and follow the Peristroika of America.

In the end, Communism will win.

Weren't the Canadians behind Occupy Wall Street's website, too?

I smell a maple-flavoured conspiracy.

That's what's happening, my fellow liberal Democrat. Join in on our movement (new window), comrade.

Bummer. I was hoping that they were going to follow through on their idea of lending the domain to Stephen Colbert. Maybe he'll scrape enough cash together to end up the highest bidder.

Considering the band broke up 6 years ago and would pretty much have to change their name if they ever got back together, I can't really blame them for selling. I did read someplace that it's actually just one of the guys that owns the domain, but he's planning to split the proceeds from the sale with his ex-bandmates, just because it's the right thing to do, not because he thinks they'd sue him or anything.

Are you not liberal, too, my comrade? Peristroika is coming. We express our solidarity with you and the Occupy movement.

I got to see them as an opening act for Def Leppard when I won free tickets. Although I was a big fan of Def Leppard in the 80's, Tea Party kicked serious ass that night. I wished it was the opposite order on the bill. Shortly after they broke up. I was a sad panda.

Weird, I thought they were still broken up, but apparently they're playing here (Edmonton) next month. Ooh, and so is Wide Mouth Mason. I really need to get out more.

Not Tim Hortons.
Drummer Jeff Burrows is 10-3pm on CKUE 100.7 here in Windsor when not touring with Crash Karma/recording/producing/charity work.
Stu Chatwood is doing just fine, thanks. Lots of writing/recording/soundtracks.
Jeff Martin is ..... Jeff Martin.

I still have their promo cd from a thrift store purchase in the late 90s. They're like the Cult or the Doors. MuchMusic pegged them as the second coming back then, but they never caught on.

2011-10-18 06:32:04 AM
It's not called 'selling out' to sell something valuable.

Is the new attack against OWS to paint them as Communists? That's just stupid. I spend a lot of my free time in Center City with OccupyPhiladelphia and I haven't come across a single Communist yet. As a matter of fact, the only visible political presence is the RON PAUL people, and the rest of us just kind of tolerate them like you would the weird guy at work.

I am not trolling biatchpoint. I'm reaching out in solidarity with you, but you're only resorting to insults against your own kind. Peristroika is coming thanks to your added efforts, comrade.

Are you kidding me? Some go-nowhere band has the opportunity to sell their name to a transient political derp-fest for a mountain of cash and they're supposed to feel bad about that? Why would anyone bother to go into the music industry when the only thing that's respected in it is complete failure?

Every dollar that goes into this sale is a dollar not going to a teabagger campaign.

As a random aside apropos of nothing, you can always tell the mouth-breathers by their need to spell things phonetically.

There's a reason peristroika gets underlined in a red squiggly line and perestroika doesn't. Aren't you so well-versed in Soviet communism, though. Tell us more about Crooshchev while you're at it.

It would be funny if they were just trolling the Tea Party to get some free publicity. Put the band back together, get a lot of free publicity, go on tour, sell some music, then tell the Tea Party to Eff Off. Or just take their money.

Either way, they win.

also, I really liked them in the 90's, early 2000's. then they kind of faded away. always wondered what happened to them.
