From the same story @msnbc Link (new window)
"She looks at the uniformed police officer, and says 'What did you stop me for? I was driving good'"
So dad made the right call for his DD.

FTFA: "
Officers found the girl sitting on a booster seat behind the wheel.

Weimer, who had visitation with his daughter on weekends, was arrested and the child was turned over to the care of relatives.

Police say Weimer didn't see a problem letting his nine-year-old daughter drive.

The girl told officers her father had been drinking whiskey and that he had let her drive before.
"

Yep, "had" is the right word there.

/Hey, that's just the way she rolls...

Yeah, even the guy who called 911 reported that she was driving well. Just another example of our system holding talented kids back.

Right? Just shows why standardized age limits are stupid. Some can drive at 9, and some should never drive, yet just about every state sets 16 as the standard.

Give her a license.

When the cop pulled her over, she was scared as hell. She said, "I don't have a license, but I drive very well, officer."

I think we've all learned a thing or two from this.

I've learned not pulling over for gas, if you're letting your crotch fruit drive.

This is another case of being stupid gets you caught. Or you can get away anything if you think it through.

Get gas ahead of time.
Don't brag about illegal things in public places or at all.

I've never done anything this irresponsible, but I've done a few illegal things. Never come close to being caught.

ah, yes, memories of doing this for my mother at 11 years old as well. Walking down to the bar to drive her home at midnight. Good times!

I didn't know Augie Smith had a sister..

2011-10-18 08:12:27 AM
blackminded~

My West Virginia grandfather died in his mid 60's. He had driven in WV for over 50 years. One of his sons wanted a memento of him. The son thought my grandfather's drivers license would be something nice to remember him my. But, being that WV boy, he never had one.

Rattrap007: I didn't know Augie Smith had a sister..

When asked why her 14 year old sibling wasn't driving, the dad said "She can't drive a stick."

(an awesome Augie routine)

First thing I thought of:

Your friend is blind?
More or less, yeah.
Then why the hell is he driving?
Cause he's the only one who's sober!

2011-10-18 09:02:01 AM
He was charged with child abuse? Really? Child endangerment or neglect, sure. But abuse seems to be the wrong word...

At least he didn't say "Because she's sober...er."

So...are we pointing out kid drivers in movies now?

Short Round FTW!

I LOL'ed at her asking the cops why she was pulled over.

You know officer, if you don't want to hear the answer - don't ask the question.

2011-10-18 10:20:45 AM
I like on the video how the guy was bragging to the store clerk about letting his 9 yr old drive.

My dad had a car at 10 several of them in fact and he drove around a lot but this was rural ohio

2011-10-18 10:39:49 AM
IN SE Michigan most drivers have the driving skill of your average 9 year old - standards for good driving are low here.

2011-10-18 10:48:38 AM
I think that the "Starsky and Hutch" paint job on the van just adds to the story.
