Just discovered Game of Thrones and can't wait for the next season. Although I can understand how all the T&A might turn people off. It's also not the best writing compared to some other shows. But as a D&D fan from my youth I love seeing any well done fantasy brought to the screen.

FTFA: Salman Rushdie's Showtime Show Will Be 'Sort of Paranoid Science Fiction'

I look forward to seeing its mid-season two series finale.

Nope, still don't support the fart-wah....

I could care less what he thinks of "Game of Thrones", I loved the books but thought the series was only OK. His "meh" attitude to one of the finest dramas ever created "The Wire", means he deserves to die.

I still say this last episode would have been better if someone had said "we're glad you're out of jail Mr. White", and the reply had been "spread the word darlin', Chalky back".

What is this New York magazine and why does it's cover have such helpful articles as "How to survive a zombie attack"?

Check list of people whose opinions I care about.
Note that Salman Rushdie is not on list.
Go back to sleep.

People who write fancy pants books that fancy pants people put on their shelves to look fancy aren't allowed to watch television. Hasn't anyone told him? Harrumph!

I really liked the adaptation of Game of Thrones (better than the book, actually), but get back to me when George RR Martin writes anything with the depth of Midnight's Children.

2011-10-17 08:48:55 PM
Rushdie is a decent author, but he's a bit overrated. Game of Thrones is a lot of fun and not trash, though it isn't a work of art either. It is most definitely not trash. I can't say anything about the Wire because I haven't seen it, though everything else I've heard about it is positive.

The Game of Thrones and The Wire.

Two TV shows I have never watched.

I don't like shows about people doing their jobs unless they are sitcoms or cartoons.

That includes shows about:

doctors, nurses, interns, lawyers, cops, judges, detectives, Madison Avenue, car customizers, cooks, casino dealers, card sharks, antique dealers, hookers, Paris Hilton, crab fishermen, or any other trade, occupation or profession, legal or illegal.

The fark he say about The Wire? Just because you can't produce anything of significance (and no, getting a Fatwa issued against you doesn't automatically make your work good) doesn't mean you have to knock a show that may be the version of the Great American Novel for TV. No wonder Padma divorced this pompous idiot.

From the original interview, it sounds like he only saw the first season of The Wire, and said he may have to give another season a shot, so I can kinda see his point.

2011-10-17 09:07:37 PM
Both shows kinda suck.
