The-Brain: ...there was a 2?

You read my mind.

According to IMDB (new window), it was a 2008 direct to video
extravaganza that got 1 star out of 10.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: Damn it Billy!! You were great once!

True dat, though I think maybe Billy's overuse of lead-based eye makeup could be catching up with him.

The high point of Billy Zane's career for me will be his role in "Tales From the Crypt : Demon Knight"

If Kimbo's in it, the fight scenes won't be longer than 16 seconds (new window).

Ron Perlman? How much does he cost to get?

Son of Thunder: If Kimbo's in it, the fight scenes won't be longer than 16 seconds (new window).

Nah. Just match him up against Sean Gannon (10 minutes or so) and have Kimbo bring along his hoodrat flunkies to interrupt the fight every time he starts to lose. Especially if you extend the 10 count to a 25 count for a knockdown.

Billy Zane laughed, his eyeball dangling from its socket...

The-Brain: ...there was a 2?

2 was a prequel to the prequel... it's pretty awful in every way imaginable. But the best thing about it is that the climactic battle with the scorpion monster... the culmination of the whole movie's rising action... the final and most critical incident of the entire narrative...

is against an invisible scorpion.

That's right... for 5 minutes the protagonist runs around and stabs at nothing.

It almost looks like they shot the scene intending for a CG monster to be filled in later but then ran out of budget before hiring the FX team.

Ron Perlman is either really bad with money, or he has billions.

I dunno. I think it would kind of be fun to get paid to run around cleaving monsters in half with a sword. Better than my office job and pays more.

Actually Dead Calm and Sniper are the only ones I bother with.

The Phantom should be utilized as a terrorist interrogation technique.

Billy Zane is a cool dude. We should all listen to him.

Is there going to be a big battle scene with lots of hype and then Kimbo goes in and gets his ass kicked in the first 30 seconds or will this end differently?

Isn't he supposed to be ? I mean his whole purpose in the movie is to be a tag along/snitch.

I like that the title character, The Scorpion King, doesn't even get his name mentioned in the trailer. I suppose it's better than saying "and not the Rock as, The Scorpion King"

Apropos of nothing, I just want to say that Billy Zane has a huge head. I mean just a giant melon sitting on his neck. Gigantic skull.

I actually liked that TBS movie. It had a nice tongue in cheek campiness to it and was just goofy enough to be watchable.

You should try to find 'I woke up early the day I died'. Farking dreadful camp, but not a bad ride if you're tucked into your wine. I think it may have been an Ed Wood joint from years past.

I'm now wondering how well Billy Zane would do if he was cast as Lex Luthor.

Uncle Pooky: Ron Perlman is either really bad with money, or he has billions.

Ron Perlman has Sons of Anarchy and the Hellboy franchise to make his serious money off of, so I see nothing wrong with him having a little fun, although his best role is The Strongman from City of Lost Children.

Plus, Ron Perlman is what is known as "a working actor", which means that dude will just keep working just to work, regardless of the overall shoddiness of the final project. He always seems to have fun with whatever it is he does, which translates to at least one good performance, as long as he is in the cast.

City of Lost Children was the first foreign subtitled film I had watched. Excellent head trip of a movie, and I became a big fan of Perlman because of it. That movie is great to watch sober and even better when not.

I make a point to watch everything he is in, so even though SK3 is going to be a low budget suckfest, I'll still give it a rainy afternoon.

Always see Perlman pop up in odd places. Name of the Rose was even stranger thanks to him. His narration of Fallout was excellent, his voice is highly recognizable. I never quite got into the Beauty and the Beast television show but I saw enough of it to realize he worked well with makeup and costumes.
I'm a fan of Bruce Campbell as well, liked Bubba Hotep, and was okay with hearing that Perlman was taking over the role in the sequel. Bubba Nosferatu will get off the ground eventually, I hope. I'd think by now Paul Giamatti and Ron Perlman could fund the project themselves.
