Favorite Gruden moment:

[On Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw]: "This guy is a lightning rod... very quick and hard to find"

//this guy sounds like an idiot
//but I don't mind him

That guy, that guy is what you call a football player. That's the thing about that guy. That guy? All that guy does is eat sleep drink breathe football. I love that guy. There's no question that that guy is the best at his position in the National Football League. That's what that guy is. that's what that guy does. Lotta guys, they wanna be that guy, but those guys, they're not that guy. That guy is what you call a play maker. That's all he is. That's all he does. That guy is the best guy at that position. that's what the National Football League is, what that guy does. That guy is my kinda guy. That guy pays the price to be that guy. That guy is the the guy who does that guy type stuff in the National Football League. That's who that guy is.

I like Gruden. I'd keep that gig as long as they let me do it.

There's a video game that seems to have been made just for him.

Really good deal for Gruden... considering unless he's going down the Madden route, I think he probably has some stipulations in there that he can bolt at anytime for a head coaching job.

Since MNF is on Halloween this year, I will be very disappointed if he doesn't dress up as Chucky.

I like Gruden.

Then again, I liked Kornheiser on MNF too, so maybe I'm in the minority.

LarryDan43: Jaws is worse.

He just really likes his NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE football games and his BACON, LETTUCE, and TOMATO sandwiches.

Gruden rocks, even when he gets on his "that guy is great" speeches.

Best Gruden moment (after a Charles Woodson sack + forced fumble):

GRUDEN: You know, Charles Woodson used to play for me and he is just really good at getting in there and stripping the football from the quarterback.

JAWS: We haven't really talked about this, but there was that play where he stripped the ball away from Brady in the playoffs.

GRUDEN: He is just great at stripping the ball.

He better have those stipulations. But only if they are for an AFC team. An AFC East team. An AFC East team located south of New Jersey. An AFC East team with aqua and orange as their color scheme.

Terrific. How else would I know that every single player involved in the game can be described with some sort of superlative?

I can't wait to hear about how great Mark Sanchez is tonight if he goes three passes without firing one 9 miles over a receiver's head.

Dang, I was hoping he would get back into coaching.

I still find it hard to believe that the same guy, whom as a coach, was seemingly always irritated at anything, became an announcer who can't find fault with anyone.

i was thinking i didnt care for gruden but reconsidering there are a number of people who i find even more annoying

Kornheiser plays such a great antagonist on PTI. The show works better with him there. But that dynamic just didn't work on MNF.

I want Jon Gruden and Gus Johnson calling games together. I think that would be pretty much awesome.

Yep.

I hope that, at some point in the next 5 years, he learns how to properly hold the microphone.

That's really the only thing that bothers me about his announcing. He just seems to not be able to hold the mic properly when they do the introduction discussion.

I loved Kornheiser, but the other hosts were asses to him...well, one in particular. I always thought their chemistry was weird until I read the ESPN tell-all. It kind of explained a few things.

Maybe this will make him stop slobbering over every player and inject some criticisms into his commentary.

Ah, crap.

MNF has become close to unwatchable with those three braying frat boys in the booth, getting all excited over the Best. Three Yard Run. On Third and Eight. EVER.

I might watch the first ten minutes or so tonight just to see what they do to make something out of what is certainly a meaningless game and almost certainly will be a terrible one. Frankly, I think it's going to be a shock result if either team wins.

The 48-year-old Gruden is the winningest coach in Buccaneers history (60-57) barely 500 and coached the team to victory in Super Bowl XXXVII a team Tony Dungy built , where Tampa Bay defeated the Raiders, his former team. which I am sure helped him immensely

Stay on MNF Jon.

It hits the open receiver over the middle. It does this whenever it's told.

If you're going to give Dungy credit for building a team that Gruden took to the Superbowl, then you have to give Gruden credit for building the Raiders team.

Simms can never, never, not talk. Every moment when Nantz isn't talking Simms must be screeching away, nonstop, forever. It's maddening.
