Vincent Van Gogh.
Everyone told him, "You only have one ear. You cannot be a great artist." And you know what he said?
"He said, I can't hear you."
Vincent Van Gogh was a dreamer.

I'd post some glib comment, but I have to hang some portraits in empty halls (just frameless heads on nameless walls)

No and neither did he.

He was murdered by time-traveling Muslim extremists.

The story makes sense. People who commit suicide don't generally shoot themselves in the stomach and then run a mile for help.

That's my current desktop background.

FTA: But this does not explain why the easel and brushes that he had taken to the fields with him that day, not to mention a gun, were never found

No, but someone happening along some unguarded valuables in the middle of a field and absconding with them does.

I'll keep an ear out for any new info on possible Van Gogh suicide.

What a shocker - I didn't even know he was sick.

2011-10-17 04:54:40 PM
I thought he killed himself because he had a ceaseless vision of the TARDIS exploding. After cutting off his ear because he could hear the endless loop of explosions River was caught in.

Was he an Auton?

Well, I guess the more you know...

Not a fan of the English language, eh?

The proposal is that van Gogh was actually - or, in fact - shot by someone else. Also, theory and fact align quite frequently. See also: science.

As for "and nor" - it's perfectly cromulent. I may have constructed the sentence differently myself, but if you're struggling to understand it, it's not the article author's fault.

/Do seppos still pronounce "van Gogh" as "van go"?
//The accepted pronunciation is: imagine the sounds you make when trying to cough up a particularly troublesome jellyfish. That's van Gogh.

van goff is how i say it now

and the "and nor" thing must be some weird brit thing. i was always taught that "nor" alone was proper in that situation

i could care less about the "theory" vs "in fact" issue irregardless of how it sounds

Got that poster in my cube. But which episode are you talking about "Vincent and the Doctor" or "The Pandorica Opens"? The painting is shown in "The Pandorica Opens". Both are great episodes.

It works, for all intensive purposes...

Of course, if those libtards didn't prevent concealed carry laws in bars where people where getting hammered on absinthe, Van Gogh might still be alive today.

I was just wearing a bow tie, so I'm getting a kick out of your reply.

Sometimes when we have "high-value" guests or bosses in the office, they ask us to wear ties. I brought in a black bowtie.

I realized after posting that there are two episodes with him. Both are great, but I was referring to "Vincent and the Doctor."

Someone told me that there is a PBS show coming up stating that Van Gogh never cut off his ear. Anyone hear about that?
