Enjoyed watching Scotland snatch defeat from the jaws of victory today with a couple of huge errors against Argentina - that missed tackle, and that missed drop goal. Could've been huge, but instead sucked large.

Well done to the Blackness.

But next week's final is going to be the biggest non-event since the advent of World Cup rugby. France have already lost to the All Blacks once during this tournament - and now they meet again in the final?

Meh.

The NZ badminton team floated the idea of calling themselves the "black cocks", it didn't go down to well with the badmington chiefs in England ;)

We will beat france by at least 20.

From Australia: Best of luck to the Kiwis in the Final, even though the feeling would not have been reciprocated if we'd won.

Also, congratulations on inserting Quade Cooper into Aussie Rugby as a sleeper agent. One always admires long term planning. He is just shiat.

/Prefers League, as having a scrum pack and then the referee blowing his whistle two seconds later due to some BS infringement and giving one team 3 points seems like a crap game to me
//Not claiming that NZ didn't beat us fair and square. The Wallabies were never even in that game and were soundly beaten by a far superior side

Jedi's take on the French in 2007.

I have been terribly disappointed that I haven't been able to watch a single phase of RWC besides the Eagles game that was broadcast a few weeks ago. I'm not going to shell out $25 per game for ppv.

That being said, GO BLACKNESS!

You're a US American, the RWC is on Universal Sports. Pretty much every system carries it (for free) here in America.

No it doesn't. 0 of Time Warner, Dish and DirecTV carry Universal Sports (in my area, at least). However, the final will be broadcast tape-delayed on your local NBC affiliate at 3PM Eastern.

Do what I have been doing, watch them on justin.tv. You have to play around a bit and find a stream that works (you may have to listen to russian commentary), but otherwise you get to watch them live.

The Universal Sports coverage sucks anyway. Only the Eagles games and one Canada v NZ game.

GO ALL BLACKS!!!!1

Farking France. I'm not even mad that they won, I'm mad that for the next six farking days, I'm going to have to hear my roommate talk about how "At every World Cup and Six Nations, France have THE GAME where they are lights-out and you can't beat them. It doesn't matter how good you are, you cannot beat them. And after that, they're shiat, but it happens once every tournament, they have THE GAME. And what scares everybody is that it hasn't happened yet."

He has previously mentioned how he "could stand to see those French farkers nucleared off the face of the Earth" ever since they knocked out Ireland in 2003, and that he threw his TV out of the window that day.

dj_bigbird: I still can't figure out how Wales lost to France.

It sucks because Wales totally outplayed the French throughout and almost won despite being a man down for virtually the entire match. (I agreed with the red card though.) Wales-NZ would have been a more exciting final.

Of the two major sattelites, only DirecTV has Universal Sports (it is also on Time Warner). The Final will be on PPV live (at 4am EST) or on tape delay on NBC next Sunday at 3pm or so.

Go All Blacks! Rugby, finally a sport that we can cheer for the Kiwis and they actually have a good chance at winning.

Go All Whites.... maybe you guys can finish in a tie, or only lose by a goal or two, that'll show em! :D

Fixed it for you. One thing i was shocked about the WRC is how unpopular the Ozzies are. They are even more unpopular than the English which is saying something.

Now we will have to suffer 20 farking years of the welsh crying how they were robbed. Warburton's tackle was rightly a red card offense. Don't pick some one up and drop them on their neck and you won't get sent off. Simples.

At least with the French there is an outside change of them putting the old hoodoo on the All Blacks and swinging from the ridiculous to the sublime.

The bigger challenge was sucking John O'Neil into falling in love with Robbie Deans so he could select Cooper for the Wallabies. That took some effort, but the master plan has worked out.

/ For future reference ... Deans will not lead the Wallabies to a RWC title in the future, but he will one day be coach of the All Blacks and he will lead them to a RWC title, beating Australia in the final.

I can see that. Finally got back to the Old Country for the first time when my uncle died a couple of years ago. Neat area. One Grandparent an both parents graduated from Ridgewood HS. My Grandfather and Father were both past Commanders of the Ho-Ho-Kus VFW. Mom taught at Franklin. Mom and Dad emigrated to Texas in 1961. I really need to spend more than a day or two up there and hope to do so.

Should be All Blacks vs Wales. No way was that a spear tackle, and the French would have been toast if they hadn't had the one man advantage for 60 minutes.

Yeah, but THE GAME during this World Cup was against the English the other week. If the Welsh captain hadn't made one really stupid tackle and got sent off for it, the Frogs would have been beaten the colours of their uniforms and you wouldn't have to hear him biatch.

Since I'm in the Philippines I get to watch the RWC on Star Sports out of Hong Kong. One of the commentators said the following about Quade Cooper: "There's a man terribly lacking in competence right now." This was said after Quade's 4th or 5th kicking mistake in a row.

I wish that American commentators painted such a colorful picture. Instead we'd get "In the National Football League, you have to put your kicks through the uprights, or you won't have a job in the NFL for very long."

It was a great game form a NZ perspective. We completely dominated the Aussies forwards!. Kainos tackle on Digby was the tackle of the tournament IMO. One Kiwi choked big time :) his name is Quade Cooper :)

That was the very deffinition of a tip tackle. He picked up the guy, grabbed his legs and tipped him over then dropped him on his shoulders. A couple more degrees of rotation and he would of landed on his neck and possible broken his neck.

It was a fantastic game. The most abiding image for me was Brad Thorn's roar and fist-pump after winning the last scrum.

Apart from a few missed kicks they did everything right. Israel Dagg's penetrating runs, Cory Jane in the air, the power and the commitment from the forwards esp in the scrum, the defence and the way they threw themselves at every tackle, Aaron Cruden who was just a wee lad last week, I could go on and on.

2011-10-19 08:11:17 AM
Why Australia lost:

Handling errors: Quade was not the only culprit. A lot of our players made stupid knock-ons.

Poor tactics: Kicking it to the wingers and hoping they knocked it on didn't work the first few times they did it. Yet, they kept doing it and getting the same results, one of the wingers (or the full back) would kick it back and usually get it past the spot the Aussies kicked it from.

Not getting possession fast enough at the breakdown: Any time it looked like Australia were in good attacking shape they spent far too long getting the ball back for the next phase which gave NZ extra recovery time.
