That's not what a joke sounds like. This is what a joke sounds like:

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender says "Cosmos are for idiots. I don't care if you ARE Sarah Jessica Parker."

2011-10-16 02:18:03 PM
Wow.

A pity the DOJ won't make a federal case out of it.

2011-10-16 02:18:09 PM
Stay classy, GOP.

i'm sure that huckabee was just making a joke. A very bad joke in poor taste, but a joke nonetheless.

his followers, on the other hand, will not see huckabee's comments as a joke. they'll take it as an order. Because that's how they roll. then when caught, they will also say that it was 'just a joke'.

I am hereby calling for the targeted and immediate assassination of all high-ranking Republicans and their apparatchiks. Murder them in their beds. Rape their wives. Curbstomp their infants. Leave none alive. Burn the rot out, root and branch.*

*The preceding statement was a joke.

FTFA:

Democrat Jeff Berding, the former Cincinnati council member who left council earlier this year after he opposed the party on a union issue, spoke in support of Issue 2, saying he knows he no longer has the support of Democratic voters.

Berding said that the current collective bargaining system is tilted unfairly towards unions and that taxpayer money is misused to provide free, or nearly free, health care, pensions and automatic raises for public employees.

"The unions care too much about the pay, the perks, the pensions, but not too much about the public," he said

I do believe that both sides of the field play the same game

Also, If your not cheating, you're not trying

Liberal butthurt is high in this thread.

Remember, if you are a democrat, the national election will be on Wednesday, November 7, 2012.

/you guys really need to lighten up. One might think you are as sour as a neocon evangelical that wants to deprive gays of the rights to have sects.

There's no proof that Democrats do anything like this, but I'm going to pretend that they are both bad and go with blanket statements denouncing them both instead of calling out bullshiat when bullshiat presents itself.

Both sides are bad, vote Republican. Slash Democratic tires.

You have to love our freedom of speech right. It gives everyone the chance to make an obvious asshat out of themselves.

/Several times daily, in Huckabee's case.

2011-10-16 03:03:44 PM
It sounded like humor, however, what wasn't a joke was that if someone said otherwise bug the crap out of them to get them to see your side.

/Your friends will love that your opinion matters more than their own, and that you aren't afraid to repeat yourself.

Aren't those democrat strategies?

2011-10-16 03:15:10 PM
Makh: It sounded like humor

Why? Republicans have been doing this in all seriousness for years. Robocalls telling you the election got moved. Slashed tires. Fliers telling Democrats to vote on a different day because the polling places are too full - another side effect of endless Republican budget cuts.

It likely isn't a joke when the GOP always does it.

LordZorch: Aren't those democrat strategies?

What color is the sky in your world?

another attempt at "conservative" humor.

STOP IT! YOU GUYS ARE NOT FUNNY!!

Paranoid, unfunny, avoiding the subject, and using bad grammar.

He meant "Build an electric fence to keep them away from the polls."

Ohio's Issue 2, which is designed to bust the public sector unions, is shown in every poll taken that it is going to go down by a significant margin.

This was the same issue where 1.3 million Ohio voters signed a petition to get it on the ballot after the Republican led legislature played musical chairs by swapping out committee members who were opposed to the bill with those those who support it to get it out of committee, pushed it through the statehouse and Kasich signed just before the deadline which would have put this on the November 2012 ballot and is now campaigning for since he knows this will make or break his administration.

Every part of the state, including Boeher's hometown of Cincinnati is against this bill. Kasich made no mention of bashing the unions when he was campaigning, then this came out just after he was sworn in.

The former Governor of Arkansas should go back to Arkansas and stay out of issues that don't concern him.

/it wouldn't do any good to slash my tires. I already voted

How dare those Republicans joke around and be disingenuous when the world is about to explode. Why can't they be lily white righteous and true like the Liberals? Huh? Why!?

Just imagine the shiatstorm on Fox News if a liberal politician made a similar "joke". Like Nancy Pelosi telling people to slash teabaggers' tires so they wouldn't vote or something.

There are plenty of stories that if they happened to democrats would be shiatstorm-worthy. What if Obama's kid had a child out of wedlock? I can see the Tea Party signs now.

Why didn't the guy photoshopping that just shop people over top of the cars?

But it's the "union thugs" that are the problem here.
But I'll take up the honorable Mr. Huckabee by suggesting that if any of his proposed methods are used on Issue 2 supporters they could possibly retaliate in kind.
I mean, slash back at their tires. They tell you the wrong election date? They can find a brick with their name on it through their window.
Not that I'm advocating self-defense against traitors and terrorists that could possibly be sadly construed as illegal here, I'm just joking!

2011-10-16 05:35:49 PM
I wonder how often he has admonished liberals and their voter fraud.

I see he's getting fat again.

2011-10-16 05:37:56 PM
I just read the quote. Wow, that's some funny right there.

Why is it that American conservative "jokes" always seem to be flat-out calls to violence without any shred of humor whatsoever? Even the Ontario Tories managed "Dalton McGuinty. He's an evil reptilian kitten-eater from another planet." which... I dunno, that's pretty funny right there.

Just joking.

EnviroDude: I'm a threadshiatter

People like you are great for the Democrats. Seriously.

I was at a football game and a guy in front of me said "I hear Obama was at the game today." The guy standing next to him said, "oh, I better get my gun then." Then they both laughed goofily like "ha ha just kidding."

They both looked like middle aged dads. The derp on the right is seriously poisoning people's brains nowadays. When your leaders act like petulant children, then their followers begin to think it's ok to act like an idiot teenager.

2011-10-16 05:45:52 PM
serial_crusher: lame joke

But Republicans actually slash tires and make fake robocalls or fliers with the wrong voting date. They voter cage and suppress voting in any way they can (why do you think ACORN was a boogeyman for so long? An organization that just got people out to vote. The only illegality they had was reported by themselves internally. There were no votes, just fake voter names. The videos were edited and nothing but lies essentially).
All the while attacking Democrats for a nonexistent "voter fraud" problem while pushing to deny more people votes in the name of preventing the nonexistent voter fraud problem.
Republicans are not a democratic party. They're an authoritarian fascist gang of terrorists and traitors. It's not surprising that some people wouldn't think this was a joke because they literally do these things and then hypocritically attack the Democrats for things they don't even do.
If Osama Bin Laden put out a video saying "Al Qaeda members should totally like just blow up nuclear reactors and shoot up random crowds in shopping malls with uzis" would you think he was joking? No, because he has a past history of terrorism, like the GOP.

2011-10-16 05:46:44 PM
If you see someone who looks like Mike Huckabee, ask him if he's Mike Huckabee. if he says yes, let out the air in his tires. Cut his brake lines. Dump sugar water into his gas tank. You should stop him from functioning.

You silly, it's all a joke.

The DOJ has other priorities right now. He's just subverting democracy, not like he's selling pot to cancer paitients or something.

Good 'ol Huck. The family values guy whose son tortured and hanged a dog. Voter suppression and vandalism really isn't much of a surprise.

2011-10-16 05:51:13 PM
The Huckster may not be familiar with Poe's law...

2011-10-16 05:52:45 PM
So, Perry was joking about eliminating Social Security. Romney was joking about providing affordable health care. Trump was joking about Obama's birth certificate. Cain was joking about the electrified border fence. And now Huckabee is joking about voter suppression.

What a bunch of funny people. You could replace the entire cast of Saturday Night Live with these folks, and it wouldn't be any less funny than it is today.
