Love me some Planet P (The "Project" is not needed, and only foisted upon Tony Carey for legal reasons).

They just don't make Rock and Roll like that any more.

We think there's a brain bug on Planet P.

I'm 40 and somehow managed to miss every single one of these songs, despite being a sci fi nerd and old school prog-rock fan. Is this reasonable or were these guys unknowns even among my age set?

I heard this song on the radio quite a few times in the spring of '83. And that was in a small town in northern California that had radio stations that didn't play anything obscure.

Just an FYI, since Wikipedia doesn't have this info:

At the same time, Geffen Records took an interest in and signed 'Planet P', releasing the single and video 'Why Me?'. If you have a copy of that album, it's REALLY rare because almost immediately, we were sued by a disco group called 'Planet Patrol' for copyright infringement. The second printing included a name change - 'Planet P Project' - which I've used ever since.

Disco sucks, and nobody remembers "Planet Patrol"

Rainbow Rising is one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time. Carey fit in well with Blackmore, Dio and Powell.

Saw Ritchie Blackmore & Rainbow in 1982(?) in Hawaii, at the UH campus. This was after Tony Carey had left the band. Loudest concert I've ever been to. From what I understand, they were originally booked to play at the Neal Blaisdell Center, which seats 10,000 and for whatever reason, they ended up in a 2,000 seat venue. However they had the setup for the bigger venue, so an already loud band became almost unbearably loud. Fortunately, I brought a pocketful of foam earplugs. I passed them all out. Excellent show, other than being earthshakingly loud.
