Their first album is still music nirvana.

Their second album still is donkey balls.

Can't make magic happen again.

There's like a coupla songs on the second album that don't blow chunks. "Love Spreads" is one of my faves, and "Breaking into Heaven" is, although too long, basically fun.

Hmm, also with the Smithereens, there's a whole era of bands that now have an over-35 demographic that will buy their new albums.

Ian Browns has some good solo work, too.

This is not inherently bad news. If their new work sucks we'll just ignore it.

Lightning doesn't always strike twice. But this is still worth looking forward to, hopefully.

/loves me some Smithereens, too

They already did. New album with about 30 songs in the works. I heard that directly from Kristen. She said, "It's really good!"

It was a sensitive time for Primal Scream bassist Mani

Huh. Never knew there was a connection between Stone Roses and Primal Scream.

Of course I also didn't know The Wonder Stuff and Bentley Rhythm Ace were spawns of Pop Will Eat Itself until recently, and I love all three bands.

I discovered the Roses when the second album came out so that's my favorite. Took me years to get into the first album.

Great news if the story is true.

I don't believe any Stone Roses reunion talk, not for a second. So, the guitarist in the band is supposed to be all up for a reunion when he's renounced a music career, reputedly hasn't touched a guitar in years and is dedicated to his painting career?

Ian Brown *still* can't sing worth a damn, Reni disappeared off the face of the earth after the breakup and hasn't been all that prolific and Mani is still with Primal Scream. The Roses always sounded ragged live to me, what are they going to sound like with a guitarist who hasn't played consistently in years?

I call shenanigans on a Tuesday press conference. If they're smart, they'll let fuzzy nostalgia for the Madchester days allow them to re-release The Stone Roses again and again and again.... without risking tarnishing that legend.

/Thankful The Clash never re-united
//RIP Joe

KNaBisco: Saw them in '95. Awesome!

Also saw them in '95, and it was absolutely terrible. They sounded just awful, had no energy, had no stage presence, did shiatty versions of their mediocre second album's songs and sleep walked through all their older (and better) material.

Just terrible.

Love that first record to death, adore the other tracks from that era, and think the second record isn't as bad as many people say. But I will never again waste a moment of my life seeing them live.

Saw them in Blackpool at the Empress. The springy floor made the gig. That and the Ebenezers.

Fingers crossed. They were always hit or miss, but the highs were awesome ("Counting Backwards," "Hook in Her Head," "Say Goodbye,""Bright Yellow Gun," "Serene")

Love Spreads > Fools Gold >> I am the Resurrection.

Not that you cared about my opinion...
