There actually are some amazing spots. 100 Islands is awesome, Boracay, Bohol, Palawan are all amazing beaches that beat anything in the US. Greenhills Shopping mall is just an experience. Cheap beer, decent food. Sagada rice terraces are stunning as well.

If you've got any brains you don't go there for drugs (cept maybe in the mountains). I mean they're a major issue over there but they don't mess around with enforcement.

Actually if you have around $100K you'll probably have 5 million Philippine peso if I remember the exchange rate right. Even if you're a janitor in the US who makes around $1K a month, you'll be earning something comparable to what the average company executives earn in there. Oh and the other day a friend from the Philippines was talking about how he's a network engineer now and he's being paid 14 thousand Philippine peso a month for the job. That's like $280 only! I really pity the talented people over there who are being way too underpaid when compared to doing the same jobs here in the US.

If I ever make some money and retire I'll probably go there, build myself a house, hire some hot maids who will actually live with you in the house as it's part of the job (plus you only pay them 2 thousand Philippine peso a month, $40!), and you get to buy cheap everything!
